Corner 展ollestraat � Dijver along the river
The Nepomucenus bridge connects the Wolle with the Eeckhoutstraat and connects the Reie with the rei, the so-called Dijver.
The bridge, so-called Grote Eeckhoutbrug since 1282, was erected in 1357 by the Bruges mason Jan Slabbaerd. However, the bridge was already renewed in 1642. The "painter" or burden bearers were given permission in 1421 to build a chapel that was replaced in 1767 by the statue of the saint.
The name change did not happen until 1767. The reason for this is the placement of the statue of Johannes Nepomucenus, the patron saint par excellence and patron of, among others, the drowning men, made by the Bruges sculptor Pieter Pepers senior (1730-1785). On the night of October 6 and 7, 1795, strangers tilted the statue into the water and were replaced on May 1, 1811. A text was then applied to the pedestal. The bridge was lowered and widened in 1859 and in 1950 a metal handrail of 1859 was replaced by stone parapets. The statue was restored in 1980 by A. Goetinck in collaboration with sculptor Pierre Goetinck.

Hello John,
Only the black rubbish bin slightly disturbs the view. Otherwise it's another perfectly captured photo with lots of people and activities among the beautiful houses on a maybe cold but otherwise very nice day.

Hi John,
a very photogenic street in Bruges!
We see it was a winter day, with people wearing thick jackets. The sky is blue and yet the direct sunlight is not present, the sun travels very low above horizon in winter.
But the difficult conditions didn't stop you from taking a wonderful photo, full of color and full of life thanks to the colorfully dressed people.

Nice asymmetric angle, very well seen and captured!

Hello John,

Not much you could do about the black garbage bin but better that than litter all over the street! The red roofs contrast well with the blue sky. Good sharpness and the well rugged up people provide scale. Tfs!

Hallo John,
Een heel mooi deel van Brugge, gefotografeerd in een mooi en helder winterlicht. De vele gevels zijn mooi te zien, ook dankzij de open ruimte. De warme kleuren van de muren en daken zorgen voor een aangenaam contrast met de lichtblauwe lucht. De mensen zorgen voor een fijne sfeer.

Hello John,

Bruges never seems to fail you foe offering beautiful scenes.
I'm glad that you seem to be getting around more frequently and using your camera; hopefully your hand is now recovered.
You have chosen a good spot to capture this area, where the pathway over the bridge curves to the left, and guides towards the eclectic mix of building facades. It does, in fact, ensure that we see every part of the frame.
The weather was bright for January, encouraging the people outside, to add a pleasing social atmosphere to your photograph.

Dag John,
De dikke winterjassen zoals die te zien zijn op deze mooie foto, heb je vandaag wel nodig als je naar buiten gaat. Op de foto tenminste nog met een blauwe lucht, maar hier is het miezerig grauw. Geen fotogeniek weer dus.
