Another picture from our walk in the Blankaart natural reserve underneath that big Flemish sky.

BLANKAART is a wetland area located in Woumen near Diksmuide in West-Flanders. Around a vast pond is a large wetland which is home to rare birds.

The area is protected by Natuurpunt, the prime nature conservation organisation in Flanders. They do a good job. The visitor centre is located in a castle on the edge of the domain.

THIS PICTURE was taken on the far edge of the Blankaart reserve, or just out of it, on a country road leading to Diksmuide, which is the main town in this par of Flanders.

Hallo Benny,
We hebben de laatste tijd heel wat regen gehad, maar zodra het weer opklaart kunnen we in deze tijd van het jaar vaak prachtige wolkenluchten zien. De grote witte watten in de blauwe lucht zijn ook hier heel mooi en het vlakke landschap is ook heel aantrekkelijk.

Hello Benny, A rather minimalist picture but beautiful. How flat it is here. A splendid place for walking or biking. Charming grasses along the canal.

Flat landscapes can be very attractive and this is a beautiful example. I like the space given to the big sky and the wonderful clouds. Good leading lines and lovely colours.

Hello Benny,
I like how due prominence is given over to that magnificent sky. The footpath and the river reaching toward the vanishing point give the composition a fine sense of depth and perspective. The image is pleasantly illuminated with agreeable natural tones and very good sharpness.

Dag Benny,
Hier kunnen we toch goed zien waarom Vlaanderen en Holland ook wel de Lage Landen worden genoemd. Het is alsof je hier in de buurt door Spaarnwoude fietst. Dezelfde uitgestrektheid, een fietspad lang de vaart en een hek ernaast. Met wat meer geluk had daar een sperwer op kunnen zitten.
�En dan natuurlijk die lucht !

Dag Benny,

Daar in West Vlaanderen kan u nog mooie panorama's nemen.
De open ruimte geeft u de gelegenheid met de beek en de weg die zorgen voor een goed perspectief.
De wolken aan de hemel maken uw foto compleet.

Big Sky, I think there are a few popular songs titled BIG SKY, i am hearing a few of them in my heard right now :)

take away the clouds, and this scene is totally different.
love those clouds, wow. they give so much depth too. a very attractive scene indeed, what's not to like. cheers
