Railway Maldegem Eeklo.
I still stay close to home for pictures However, already received two vaccines, op June 9 comes relaxation according to, the government, but wait!
Steam train Maldegem-Eeklo (formerly known as Stoomcentrum Maldegem) is the centre of a historic railway line, on the former station site in Maldegem, Belgium.better times
The railway line with line number 58 was previously operated by the NMBS and connected Ghent with Bruges. The rise of the car heralded the decline that lasted until 1959, when passenger traffic between Eeklo and Bruges was replaced by buses. The last passenger train left for Bruges on February 26, 1959 at around 9:30 PM. Although the Maldegem - Bruges section was already broken up in the early 1960s, freight trains continued to run between Eeklo and Maldegem until April 26, 1988.
At the end of the eighties, however, activity started again on and around the Maldegem station site. A group of Bruges rail enthusiasts - who had outgrown the model building phase and had tried their hobby on a private property in Maldegem for some years - settled in Maldegem and bought up all the buildings (station, freight shed, track warden's house) abandoned by the NMBS.
The Maldegem-Eeklo steam train immediately started with the construction of a narrow gauge on the old river bed towards Bruges and, after the abolition of freight traffic, could also run-on standard gauge.

Hi John,
The length of the rail track is creating depth and perspective. The point of view is showing the details of the trees, of the hbuildings and of the clouds. The light is making the colors to stand out. Have a nice day.

Hi John
Belgium is a representative country with a well-equipped transportation infrastructure in Europe, and railways and road networks are the highest in the world due to their high population density compared to their territories. The total length of the railway network in Belgium was 3,605 km as of 2017, all of which were electrification of railroad.
As of 2009, the total length of the Belgian road was 155,210 km, of which 119,079 km was paved road.
The sky in Belgium is very clear and blue. You are a genius at landscape composition.

Hallo John,
De compositie is heel goed met het spoor aan de linkerkant. De grote witte wolken in de blauwe lucht zijn prachtig ook, zeker met dit heldere licht. Heel mooi werk.

Hello John,
The tracks look rather rusty, so there can't be a very heavy traffic here. But even rusty tracks give good depth to a picture when photographed like this. A bicycle trip was probably nicer than a train journey on such a beautiful day. The clouds are perfectly captured and the fine light produced superb colours.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi John,
The railway line and adjacent dirt road to the right add superb linear perspective and guide the eye towards a vp on the horizon. Good colour, sharpness and framing. Tfs!

Hi John
A good photo of the old railway and surrounds. You mention enthusiasts taking it over but the rust on the rail suggests not too many trains are running.
cheers

Hallo John,
Heel mooi beeld met de rails die naar de horizon toelopen en de lijnen in het veld rechts en de spoorweg die verderop naar elkaar toegaan.
Een prachtige lucht siert het grootste oppervlak van de mooie foto.
Vele groeten, Paul

Hi John,
I am glad you have both vaccines already. It certainly gives some better chance of survival now.
I hope they will eventually relax the extra measures which sometimes are really tough and confusing.
Beautiful colors here. The rails add a geometric touch with extra lines pointing to the centre of the image.
Pleasant sky, great weather day.
Very well seen and captured,
M

Hello John,
Isn't it good that there are still steam enthusiasts, prepared to put so much effort into their hobby.
Thank you for the informative note.
This is quite a change from the canals but, still a very interesting way of travel, and still travelling over flat land, creating an excellent, linear perspective.
The weather was glorious, so rewarding when you are photographing!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello John,
RR tracks always make a good depth to any picture, as you took the advantage here.
Nice allocated the picture space with the big sky aloft, contrast the green and brown bellow.
Wish you a mnice weekend,

Hi John.
Spectacular composition with the diagonals that form the roads, the fields and the hedge, everything seems to get lost in the distance, a spectacular sky to complete this great work.
Very effective color, which brings out the details of the image.
Well managed both brightness and sharpness.
I like.
Happy start of the week. My best wishes for you.

Hello John,
Great sense of depth with the help of the railroad track. I would love to see if they manage to put a train on the tracks.
Regards,
MT
