銭ortrijk - Bird's-eye view of the Beguinage

First of all, this is NOT Bruges.
The photo shows part of the KORTRIJK Beguinage. A wider view of the town center can be found in the WS.

I took the photos from atop the 83 meter high tower of the Saint Martin's Church (Sint-Maartenskerk).
First I had to climb 246 steps. There is no lift but the view makes up for that.

Kortrijk is a smaller town in the westernmost Flemish province of the country. It has about 77.000 inhabitants.
The town is located not far from the border with France and just 25 km northeast of the French metropolis of Lille.

It is a pleasant old town that has been discovered by very few foreigners. During my visit I only once heard another language spoken. That was when a group of tourists crossed my path. These visitors spoke a Slavic language (Polish, Russian, I couldn't recognize the language).

A few years ago John (jhm) showed some photos of Kortrijk. So I must try to show other places or at least other compositions.
