Photographer's Note

Before I leave Bulgaria for other archives, one last shot of the National Theatre after a 30 cm fall of snow. I have uploaded previous shots of this theatre at night and without snow, but it looks quite different here. This is the Ivan Vazov Theatre. The Cyrillic writing makes it difficult to read for non native speakers, but not Europeans familiar with Cyrillic. But I spent 6 weeks in Mongolia and Siberia in 2007, so I wasn't totally lost.

Hello Chris, I have no problems with Cyrillic writing and it is nothing difficult to learn:). (I could read Russian when I was 6 years old, haha). This National Theater in Sofia is a beautiful building every time but here with the snow it looks fabulous. Fantastic composition.
We have snow also in Warsaw now. But I do not go with the camera because I have so many other photos. And then I would be tempted to post something.

Hi Chris
It may have been taken 3 years ago but, still, I'm so jealous about all this snow! In spite of dull weather the colourful fa軋de looks great with all the white around and the statue in the foreground is almost surreal in frosty cold.
Like Malgo, I learned Russian when I was a kid. I didn't like the idea then but appreciated it later when it turned out very useful in countries like Armenia, Uzbekistan and, less expectedly, Israel.

Les arbres cadrent bien le th鰾tre. La prise de vue permet de voir les d騁ails du Th鰾tre National. Le reflet de la lumi鑽e sur la neige a un effet sp馗ial sur les couleurs de l'image. Bonne soir馥.

Snow coverring is very good subject for photograhing everywhere. But your posting is so appealing. White and chachol red wall is very vivid contarst. Perfect framewrok and ideal compsoition is as usual as your trademark.

The catchy and stark contrast of the 'creature' has a constant battle against the elements by the looks of it!! Interesting elements in this well observed and taken image under wonderful heavy show where focus is firmly on the beautifully highlighted backdrop! Excellent lens work, Congrats

Hello Chris,
A well framed and pleasant view of the elegant church surrounded by so much snow. It's a perfectly exposed photo with good sharpness. The Cyrillic alphabet is really quite easy to learn, and essential to know if you travel on your own in those countries. I don't speak a word of Russian or Bulgarian or similar languages, but as long as I can read signs and train schedules I'm all right.

Oh, Chris, this is lovely!
Snow has a remarkable effect changing a lovely scene into a magical one!
I like your chosen composition, the statue strongly featured and guiding smartly over the snow-covered garden to the picturesque building.
The whole scene looks coo,l yet the red brick suddenly instills a special area of warmth.

Hello Chris, a magical scene, the snow has an amazing effect. Snowfall with no wind, as the trees are quite thickly coated.
Lovely viewpoint, the trees framing the theatre so well.
The statue seems to be directing our eyes towards the building!

This is another great winter shot. Everything looks so magical covered in snow. I like how the red, gold, and yellow colors on the buildings stand out compared to all the surrounding white. It all looks great with the cloudy sky, too.

I liked a lot the texture of the snow in the trees and the contrast between the red building and the white mood of the compo. excellent view.
