St. Kyriaki Cathedral, a photo from Sofia City, West

Photographer's Note

Less well known than other Sofia landmarks is this charming cathedral named after a Greek female martyr, executed on order of Emperor Diocletian for refusing to renounce her Christian faith. She was in good company. St George met the same fate under the same despotic Emperor. Kyriaki is of course a Greek name and translates to 'Sunday', as she was an only child born on a Sunday. Hello Chris,
I like the upwards point of view and the framing offered by the trees. The warm lights and colours are very pleasant to view and there is lots of nice textural detail to appreciate. I imagine during late spring and summer this view would be lost due to the increased amount of foliage.

You took an excellent photo of this cathedral. It is surrounded by so many warm colours of the leaves, which make a great contrast with the blue sky. The warm sunlight is perfect as well.

Hi Chris,
beautiful architecture but the most attractive is here the way you have framed it, luckily not too many leaves were left and the clearance is better.
The yellow leaves make an autumnal effect although it was December.
Very well saturated colors.

Chris, the winter yellow leaves match very well with the blue sky. Imposant monument made of a tower. I ve never visited that cathedral in Sofia. Remarkable architecture, happy easter!
