Lady in red and paintings, a photo from Sofia City, West

Photographer's Note

I have realized that I posted very few pictures from my Balkans trip in 2018. So, before there will be a new trip (soon, in fact), some pictures from my archive.
Here nothing special from Sofia. Not far from Alexander Nevski Cathedral there is a market with the paintings for sale. Usual lot: the sunflowers, the views from some places in Bulgaria (like Melnik) and orthodox icons. I always wonder, how many people actually buy these paintings.

The lady in red changes an everyday market scene into one with a special point of focus.
The fact that she is discretely waving adds a lovely point of contact.
The surround of paintings and shoppers makes an interesting b/g.

found so many pictures there with
impressive paintings and details

Hello Malgo,
I have asked the same question many times. I would never consider buying anything from this kind of art gallery. But I have shamelessly used them for taking photos many times, especially with shoppers or sellers included. I wouldn't be surprised if I captured a lady in red once or twice. It's a nice nothing special with fine colours and a very pleasant warm light.

Hello Malgo, I was just thinking if anyone ever bought paintings from displays such as this, when I read your thought! I have actually never seen anyone buying when encountering stalls such as this.
It is a lovely picture, full of colour and sharp detail. The background of green trees is perfect.

This religious art market is right beside the statues to the Bulgarian Patriots in the 1877 Russo Turkish War. You were so close! I saw these paintings too. The woman in red has caught on that she is being photographed. Tfs!

We travel too much. :-) I also have two trips which have remained completely unposted so far and went on a new one last weekend. A great shot of this art market. This charming lady waving to the camera is very well included and the trees make a great green backdrop.

Hi Malgo A good street photo and the Lady in Red is certainly trying. I've seen similar so called "art markets" in several countires but never seen anyone much buying so agree with your sentiment.

first to answer your question - how did i know about this rabbit in Porto? I always do a search online for abandoned subjects and often strange subjects :) this rabbit popped up for me on my searches :) So i went further and tried to locate the exact street and I found it on google maps :) Then i make a copy on my phone, or make print out of the map, then I take it with my when i travel - that easy :) As for your photo, i wonder about that as well, do they really sell any of these paintings???? There are always people looking, but not many buying. its a fun photo, a good memory type of photo for you, and the red attire with the green leaves above make it stand out too. nice one.

Malgorzata, paintings are exhibited for sale in that plazza close to the cathedral Nevsky. They represent sunflowers, Bulgarian houses and also religious scenes. The vendor wearing a red clothes looks welcoming. Some tourists are roaming around the paintings. Beautiful trees in the bg. Sharp composition
