Photographer's Note
This is the southern portion of Sofia, capital of Bulgaria as seen from the 23rd floor of Park Hotel Moskava, one of the best vantages to photograph the city from. Here you can see some of the commercial and residential districts looking out towards the distant hills which border the city. In the winter months these hills are covered in snow and popular ski resorts attract many international visitors. Sofia has a population of about 1.2 million people and has been the national capital since 1879. It has many interesting Orthodox churches, historic buildings and lush parklands to explore. I passed through Bulgaria over two days on my way to Serbia to the north-east.
