Photographer's Note

Someone wise enough has decided not to bury all remains from the ancient town of Serdica under the streets of Sofia. For many years archeologists have kept discovering more and more from the old Roman times: the town walls, the stadium...but most of them are buried under the streets and buildings in the city centre. Several buildings have preserved parts of the old town and its walls are integrated within the foundations of the Central Hali, the old shopping centre diagonally from it, Bulbank, the Presidency subway, even a hotel.
Luckily, while the walls are buried, richly decorated columns and ornaments have been excavated and kept in the Archeological Museum and...in the so-called Doctors' garden.

The remains age from the IVth century B.C. to the period of Bulgarian Revival (XVII-XVII century A.D.).
