Hvar at sunset.

Hvar is a city and port on the island of Hvar, part of Split-Dalmatia County, Croatia. The city itself is inhabited by 3,771 people, making it the largest settlement on the island of Hvar. It is situated on a bay in the south coast of the island, opposite from the other nearby towns of Stari Grad and Jelsa.

The city of Hvar has a long and distinguished history as center for trade and culture in the Adriatic. An independent commune within the Venetian Empire during the 13th to 18th centuries, it was an important naval base with a strong fortress above, encircling town walls and protected port. Hvar is the site of one of the oldest surviving theatres in Europe, opened in 1612.

Hi Piotr,

The mountains are a natural frame to the village. The point of view is showing the details of the boats and of the houses. The good luminosity is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

From this angle the telecommunications tower looks like it might be the fort. I recall thinking about not going up there if it is so much effort, but was pleasantly surprised that the 'real' fort is only a 1/3 of the way up the mountains so I ended up going anyway. And did not regret it. Good sharpness & color. Tfs!

Hello Piotr,

You had superb light for your photograph.
The sun is picking out the houses and lighting them up warmly against the back cloth of the mountains, which seem like a very natural protection for the town and harbour.
A very well composed and exposed shot.

the warm light as falling on this section of Hvar make the whole scenery even more effective.The port with lot of the sailing boats and the calmy atmosphere make the place very inviting to visit it someone for vacations.

Hello Piotr,
Very beautiful with the late afternoon light and the alternation of light and shade on the mountain slope.
The town looks very picturesque with all its houses with white facades and red roofs.
Its marina attracts a lot of sailboats and some of them aren't small at all.

The pretty little town is very attractively crammed together at the foot of the steep hills. At this time of the day the light has given the view a wonderful golden tone. The boats create a fine foreground. This is a very nice composition, well exposed and well cropped.
