Port of Trogir, a photo from Splitsko-Dalmatinska, Coast

Photographer's Note

Trogir is one of the most charming cities in the Dalmatian region and an example of coexistence among tourists, hanging clothes and stone with history. The town was declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1997. This small island stronghold of orthogonal plant runs in one breath is one of the Romanesque-Gothic complex best preserved in the Adriatic and the whole central Europe. In a span of land churches and Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque palaces happen.

In medieval times, it was protected by the Kamerlengo fortress on the west end. The strength of Venetian origin remains in place, but is unable to repel the siege of the hordes of tourists every summer invade the island.

An unmissable event is the magnificent Cathedral of San Lorenzo, the mouth of the narrow roads. The Romanesque portal was carved in 1240 with the dedication of a nineteenth-century narrative novelist by the great master Radovan. There are two large sculptures of naked as Adam and Eve in Eden caused to be plugged to the fourteenth century. In the same square of the old cathedral Cipiko palace in Venetian Gothic style, and the loggia surmounted by a belfry of 1471, which served as a court, in addition to provisional prison and auditorium, and in the cities rise the Italian Renaissance.

Trogir es una de las ciudades mas encantadoras de la region D疝mata y un ejemplo de convivencia entre turistas, ropa tendida y piedra con historia. La villa fue declarada patrimonio de la humanidad por la Unesco en 1997. Este peque reducto isle de planta ortogonal que se recorre en un suspiro es uno de los complejos rom疣ico-gicos mejor conservados del Adri疸ico y de toda Europa central. En un palmo de terreno se suceden las iglesias y los palacios rom疣icos, gicos, renacentistas y barrocos.

En 駱oca medieval, estaba protegida por la fortaleza de Kamerlengo en el extremo oeste. La fortaleza de origen veneciano sigue en su sitio, pero es incapaz de repeler el asedio de las hordas de turistas que verano tras verano invaden la isla.

Una cita ineludible es la esplendorosa catedral de San Lorenzo, donde desemboca el laberinto de callejuelas. El ptico rom疣ico fue tallado en el a 1240 con el esmero narrativo de un novelista decimonico por el gran maestro Radovan. Se trata de dos esculturas de gran tama de Ad疣 y Eva semidesnudos como en el Ed駭 provocaron que se tapara hasta el siglo XIV. En la misma plaza de la catedral se levantan el viejo palacio Cipiko, de estilo gico veneciano, y la logia rematada por un campanario de 1471, que hac僘 las veces de tribunal, adem疽 de c疵cel provisional y de sala de espect當ulos, como en las ciudades del Renacimiento italiano.

Hello Luis,
This is a superb view of the small town with its church towers and typical red roofs. The three hills form a beautiful backdrop to the view and the crowded marina provides an amazing foreground. It is a splendid and very nicely composed photo.

Hello Luis, Beautiful harbor with and outstanding fleet of boats parked here. The structures in the background are also extremely attractive. Red orange roofs add to the beauty of this place. I was here several years ago, and I remember it very well. Great place to visit and photograph.

Hello Luis,
What a beautiful view of a most idyllic place. The three main elements of the photo, the harbour, the town and the hills in the background are put together so wonderfully. I particularly like the eye-cathing orange roofs of the houses and churches, the light make them stand out even better. The less natural, but all the more vivid colours of the harbour make a nice contrast with the soft natural tones of the hills and sky.

yeah, this is basically what i think of in my mind when I think about these Croatian cities by the water.

You mentioned in your note the Medieval times, I wonder what this place looked like way back then. I bet it wasn't as clean and pristine :)

a fine overview, we see the church tower, the red rooftops, the white boats and a bridge. gotta like it in this light.

Hola Luis,
this is a very beautiful panoramic view of Trogir. I must have missed it! I will come back to photos from Trogir yet but occasionally I like to upload some more recent pics from weekend trips.
The like is very pleasantly soft here. The towers make an important contribution and the marina adds a lovely foreground.
