Praha Rooftops, a photo from Prague, Bohemia

Photographer's Note

Prague is both the largest and most visited city in the beautiful Czech Republic. Formerly, it was also the capital of Czechoslovakia before the formation of Czech and Slovakia in 1993. The city is famous for its well preserved city centre, many spires and authentic Bohemian building styles. This view takes in some of the beautiful and imposing structures surrounding the city square, on the left is the Old Town City Hall (with famous Astronomical Clock mounted on the wall below), and in the background is the Church of Our Lady Before Tyn. I consider this square to be the most impressive in Europe that I was able to see. This scene was taken from a roof top bar which is well worth checking out. This was taken at sunset, so it was wonderful to watch the sky grow darker and see the lights of the city come on.

I think i know exactly where this rooftop bar is, i was there for a TE meeting just a couple months ago! :)
only difference was i was there for the blue hour, and couldn't really get any great quaility images.

yours is certainly in that 'great' category.
Wouldn't change anything. love seeing the red roofs, and the tower in the bg

Wonderful lighting. It must be early evening - the perfect time to be in that rooftop bar! I love the sharp details and the vivid colours. The single tower balances nicely with the two smaller ones.

Sounds like you've been doing the same thing as Craig (macjake) and climbing lots to get these magnificent views of the city. The colours have been illuminated brilliantly by that setting (?) sun mixed with the overcast skies. I find that often happens when it's just about to rain. You chose a superb vertical POV, managing to include so many spectacular architectural details. What a city and what a photo. Congrats.

Your elevated vantage point gives such a superb view over the red roof tops and down into the market place. It seems to be a very famous view . I can undertsand why , the perspective with the lonely tower in the FG , with teh double tower in the BG is outstsanding . I lie your choice of strong saturation , in creasing the beauty of the old stones and red roofs .

in my opinion Prague has one of the most beautiful old towns in Europe and you were able to convey its beauty well in your picture.The evening light is amazing.It helps not only to increase the color saturation,but also creates so nice,unique mood.The POV you chose is great,just like these red rooftops,which contrasts so nice with the rest of your composition.

I've never really seen those impressive buildings in Praha before. I knew it was one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but I hadn't really seen the reason before. This is remarkable, the definition of Praha shown in a picture! And you found a nice evening light as well.

Marvelous photo. The perfectly lighted building structures (incl. also the fantastic roofs) are the main focal point of this photo. There is a great use of depth of field to hold the viewer in the foreground toll tower as well as thr church in BG, and the excellent lighting conditions have allowed for very good color saturation. The overall impact is very strong. Very well done.
