The Summer Palace, a photo from Frederiksborg, East

Photographer's Note

Here is the royal summer palace known as Fredensborg. It is a replacement for the more famous Frederiksborg castle that burned in 1859. The Royal family had this palace built while Carlsberg, the beer barron, renovated Frederiksborg and then gave it back to the state to become a national museum. While most tourists go visit Frederiksborg, the real summer palace, seen here, is not a common stop. It is well worth a visit though if you are driving buy. It has a huge park surrounding it and is located on Esrum lake, probably the most picturesque lake on Zealand. Here one sees the palace and a palace guard in a polyester uniform and iconic bear skin hat all in the middle of summer.

This is a great architectural shot with the chain providing a nice border for the shot. The guard in traditional uniform adds a nice touch for the shot. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has excellent sharpness. The vertical format is great emphasizing the height of the scene.

nice photo of this royal palace. I like the architecture. In fact I'm famous of old and new architecture photos. The soldier gave a nice perspective of the size of the place.
