Tallinn is the capital and the most populous city of Estonia. Located in the northern part of the country, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland of the Baltic Sea, it has a population of 434,500. Administratively a part of Harju maakond (county), Tallinn is a major financial, industrial, cultural, educational and research centre of Estonia. Tallinn is located 80 kilometres (50 mi) south of Helsinki, Finland, 320 kilometres (200 mi) west of Saint Petersburg, Russia, and 380 kilometres (240 mi) east of Stockholm, Sweden. It has close historical ties with these three cities. From the 13th century until the first half of the 20th century Tallinn was known in most of the world by its historical German name Reval.

Tallinn, first mentioned in 1219, received city rights in 1248, but the earliest human settlements date back 5,000 years. Tallinn's Old Town is one of the best preserved medieval cities in Europe and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Hello Piotr,
Most photos from Tallinn seem to show the old town and the well preserved city wall, so this is a refreshing change. It's a nice view generally, and the photo has a very fine clarity, but it's the elegance of the flying seagulls filling the upper part that really makes this photo. There are lots of seagulls where I live, and they can be very disturbing in the nights, but here we can't hear them.

Hello Piotr,
I like how you balanced the background between the large ferry and the modern part of the city. The gulls are nice caught flying around the foreground, the sidelight is appealing, too.

Cześc Piotrze, Fajnuy widok portu w Tallinie. Płynęłam takim duzym promem do Helsinek i z powrotem. Bardzo była przyjemna podr�ż przez zamaznięty Baltyk. Piekne te latające mewy na tle niebieskiego nieba.

Piotr, the picture gives a glimpse to Tallinn port and its surroundings. The sea gulls flying animate the scene. A big ferry is moored in the port. Some warehouses and Tallinn tallest towers are visible in the bg. Nice presentation.

Of course, the beauty of this picture is the capture of these 7 seagulls flying over the port. Congratulations ! It痴 not an easy capture to make, and yet you got it so neat with a superb light on the blue sky.
