H舂eenkatu, the main street of Tampere, shot from Western end towards the railway station. Nowadays the street is for public transport only. Columns supporting tram wiring glow on direct sunlight.

Well used the contrasting shadows in the foreground to the city buildings and tower fully under daylight, Kari.
Silhouette of the man crossing the road gave excellent dimension to the whole. Indeed, I was wondering about those electric-poles on both sides, the note explained, not shown those on the Google-Map virtual tour, but found the tower at 61.4985, 23.772 on the map.

Hello Kari,
I like how the lens has squeezed the long street together, creating an interesting perspective. The buildings on both sides give the view good symmetry and the shady foreground enhances the brightness of the more distant view, where the narrow columns really look like they are shining. A favourite detail of mine is the silhouette of the person crossing the street.

It seems a very busy street to public transport only.
You create depth and perspective with a view on the city or station in background.

Hello Kari, we get the impression of the steep street, especially as half is in shadow and half in bright sunlight.
Perfect timing as the figure crosses the road, he/she really completes the picture.

Excellent picture of a sunlit city, taken from the shade.
The dark foreground makes a good contrast. Very nice with the silhouette of the person crossing the street.
Very graphical with the white columns on both sides of the street.

A great city view and a fantastic play of light and shadows. The street and the many lampposts on either side form a great perspective towards the city. The man in the middle crossing the street is a great bonus as well.

The top of the hill and start of the shade gives an unusual effect - it almost looks like there must be a vertical drop beyond the shadow. A well shot photo and good with the silhouette crossing the road.

I like the flattened perspective from the zoom lens. Good sharpness and a good downwards pov. The tram support columns add amazing repetition of patterns and shapes. Tfs!

My eyes popped when I saw this!
What a view!
As you move from the shadows into the sunlight, it feels as if the tall verticals funnel the view! There are so many lines and geometric shapes it is just about as far away from the view down the lane, from my window, that it is possible to get!

Hello Kari

This image could be from any large city in the world. The absence of life except for the one crossing the street. Technology is replacing us for the most part. Rise of the Machines. Just a thought. The reflective light on the post dose create a very interesting view of the city.

I was in Finland a few times in the past years on business trips and as soon as I saw this image without reading anything I knew we were in Finland as I recognised the OPI bank ;)
A well chosen PoV and good perspective and light, but the icing on the cake in my onion is the silhouette of the person crossing he road, he brings it to life.

my first thoughts were this was taken in San Francisco, it just has that kind of look to it. Nice city shot, with lots of depth, and the shadow/light combo is excellent. jam packed into the frame...good one. cheers
