Photographer's Note

To open the spring season, here is a couple of greylag geese which rested to the edge of the Kir lake, in Dijon.

As many residents of Dijon, I took advantage of good weather to go for a walk on Sunday. Temperature was summery (22ｰC - 72ｰF, when it snowed ten days before!). I went along the lake when I see in the distance these two wild geese. I approach softly, sit on the grass to about 15 meters and prepare the equipment quietly. Joggers passed by, children played noisily, and nothing's any good. They didn't move. I took several shots, of which this one, and continued my walk...

The greylag goose is the most common of the wild geese in Europe. This migratory bird holds the altitude record. It can fly over the Everest Mount, at an altitude more than 9 000 m (29 500 ft). They are social birds who mingle, during their migration, to other species and form lasting couples. The nesting period is from April to June. The goose mainly eats grass, but also clovers, dandelions, seeds and aquatic plants.

The relationship between the goose and our fellow-men is not insignificant. Besides the fact that its meat is excellent, it is appreciated by the French for its "foie gras" (fat liver), which is eaten during the celebration of New Year or Christmas. Its feather was the most appreciated by priests, writers and artists to write and draw in the past. These are the famous sacred geese of the Capitol who, in 390 BC, saved Rome by raising the alarm through their cries when the Gauls tried to take over the citadel. These are the wild geese who teach to the young Nils kindness and respect to others in the tale "The Wonderful Adventures of Nils Holgersson" written by the Swedish author Selma Lagerl.

Wow. Je ne m'attendais jamais � d馗ouvrir une telle description pour une photo de canard. Merci pour l'histoire et pour la le輟n sur les greylag goose.
Contrairement au commentaire de poulinp, je crois que l'herbe flou en avant plan est un 駘駑ent int駻essant de la photo. ﾇa laisse suppos� que tu 騁ait probblement couch� au raz le sol pour surprendre ces canards en pleine toilette.
Tr鑚 belles couleurs.

Wow!

Philippe, this is a great shot. There are so many things that work in this photo!
Dof of field is great, the symmetry in that fact they are both on one leg- yet the contrast in the fact they look like a mirror reflection of each other (one head over the left- the other to the right), the detail is superb, the colors warm and rich, and I like the inclusion of the weeds blurred in the forground- it adds a nice touch.

La nettet� et l'intensit� des couleurs sur la premi鑽e des deux oies sont impressionnantes. J'aime beaucoup le bec et l'oeil de cette oie. Ils ont une pr駸ence ... c'est moi qu'elle surveille de ce regard timide.

Tr鑚 beau "close up" Philippe, superbe couleurs et profondeur, tout comme la lumi鑽e sur le canard de droite particuli鑽ement. Je suis un peu partag� quand au flou de l'herbe � l'avant, peut-黎re que plus mince ceci aurait 騁� moins d駻angeant, le flou est tr鑚 prononc�. Enfin, ceci n'enl钁e rien � la beaut� et un excellent cadrage, bien fait.

La nettet� est vraiment incroyable dans cette photo. C'est plaisant de voir les deux sujets chacun sur une patte. La composition est superbe et les couleurs sont � point.

On peut observer actuellement ces oies du c� de Briare sur les 騁angs � c� du canal.
Un cadrage serr� bien effectu�; quoique j'aurai utilis� un diaph plus ferm� pour 騁aler un peu la PDF sur l'arri鑽e.

Le pas de danse des oies cendr馥s ! Tr鑚 bon cadrage (positionnement des oies par rapport au photographe) avec de tr鑚 bonnes couleurs et une excellente nettet�. Le tout formant une excellente composition � la venue du Printemps.

It's funny because I think I will start spring like shots with birds, also. There must be something about them, perhaps the returning migrations. This one is nice and sharp. The colors are excellent, especially the water behind the birds. Their resting position is great. Some of the foreground leaves are a bit distracting. But they, themselves are really well captured.

Excelent and quality composition of this beautiful air element of greylag geese. Birds are like air jets or conventional planes. But your insight and excedlent quality capture made non a "Foie Gras" but also a non "Fat liver" but a natural medical and remedial recomendation for liver health. I hope you have a happy Easter time and this picture have impact and all the nature elements to FLY!

Bonjour Philippe.Tr鑚 belle photo tr鑚 claire.Vous avez bien capt� le regard de la deuxi鑪e oie qui vous observe,ce qui donne plus d'intimit� � la scene.Quant au flou � l'avant plan,j'avoue que ceci me distrait un peu,par contre 軋 ne cache rien d'important et 軋 fait partie du d馗or et de la difficult� avec laquelle vous aviez � composer.je trouve le tout bien r騏ssie.
