Fontaine Schwendi

This little square is Place de l但ncienne Douane in the historic centre of Colmar. In the middle of it stands a fountain with a statue of Lazarus von Schwendi (Fontaine Schwendi), who and was a 16th century Austrian general in the Imperial Army of the Holy Roman Empire. The sculptor of the stature was no other than Fr馘駻ic Auguste Bartholdi, who was born in Colmar and whose most famous work undoubtedly is the Statue of Liberty.

Hej Lars,
Statyn skulle jag knappt ha m舐kt om du inte hade n舂nt den, men de sagoaktigt sa husen i bakgrunden fastnade jag ju direkt f. I fgrunden har du placerat m舅gder av blommor, och l舂pligt nog livas n舖tan hela bilden upp av m舅niskor. De flesta 舐 nog turister men de duger bra 舅d�. ;-) F舐gerna 舐 som vanligt vackra och ljuset 舐 fint.

Hello Lars,

If you were not informed differently, you would imagine that this was a setting for one of fairy stories that we read as children! It is so visually beautiful, with its timber-framed houses and masses of flowers!
In fact, the f/g flower displays act like a funnel, channelling us into the scene.
The fountain and statue merge indistinctly into the details of the house beyond, though that is of little worry for me because there is so much more to appreciate.

Goedenavond Lars,

Nog een mooie aanvulling met foto's uit Colmar.
Hoe dan ook, waar en uit welke hoek u de foto neemt.
Het zijn altijd heel mooie beelden.
Ook deze is werkelijk een mooi panorama beeld midden van de stad.
Kleurrijk en aangenaam om naar te kijken.

Hallo Lars,
In Colmar kan je duidelijk heel kleurrijke foto's nemen.
De vakwerkhuizen en de alom aanwezige bloemen zorgen voor heel pittoreske zichten en een aangename sfeer.
Ik zie dat er een straatje onder een boog en een woning doorloopt.
Het standbeeld is eigenlijk een onderdeel van een fontein.
Iemand kijkt of er misschien muntjes in liggen :)

Hi Lars,
One more beautiful spot in this photogenic town. There is so much to see and photograph in there. Each house seems slightly different and yet they have a lot in common.
Plenty of people around who add some life and color to the scene. The flowers also add a nice decorative touch with the intense pink color.
