Photographer's Note

There are already half a dozen shots of the famous cathedral of Strasbourg on TE, so why have I posted another? Well, apart from my travelog being a little incomplete without it, I spent a while trying to get a sense of the awesome scale of this building. However, the crowds of tourists (like myself) were milling round the square outside, so unlike many shots where I've had to wait for someone to walk or ride by to add that foreground interest and sense of scale, this shot was a matter of waiting until there was a gap in the crowds so that I could pick out a single person. I particularly wanted a cyclist as bikes are one of the main ways of getting around Strasbourg.

In terms of PP, not much has been done. A little use of curves and levels to reveal detail in the over-dark and over-light areas. There wasn't really a need to sharpen on this bright a day. If it looks over-sharpened, it's not, it's the unbelievable amount of detail in the decorations of this building. When I first saw it, I literally stopped dead in my tracks. Which annoyed the people behind me a little.
