Photographer's Note

The construction of Chartres cathedral begun in 1194 and it took only about 30 years to finish most of the construction. It is the very first true and probably the most beautiful High Gothic architecture, which exists today.
Unfortunately, only 2 of the 9 originally planned towers were built; two flanking towers at the west end, two towers at each end of the transepts, north and south, two additional towers at the beginning of the choir, and the crossing tower which make up a total of 9 towers.
My very first visit to the cathedral began in 1983 and continued up to 2007, I have therefore been to the cathedral close to 15 times. It is a truly beautiful work.
