Photographer's Note

Vieux (old) Lyon is hidden behind the large more modern waterfront buildings.
In 1954 Vieux Lyon became the first site in France to be protected under the Malraux law to protect France's cultural sites. There are a few examples of Gothic architecture and Romanesque buildings. The current version of the cathedral dates from a re-build in the 11th and 12th centuries. (Thank you Wikipedia).
There are plenty of interesting old doors. This one (despite the graffiti) is still quite beautiful, although not in use when I was there.

Hello Ian,
What a beautiful door with wonderful details and ornaments, just a pity that some people thought it necessary to add some graffiti tags to it. The warm colour of the wall is very attractive too and I like the textures of the stones a lot.

Ici, les panneaux � table saillante et les parties vitr馥s prot馮馥s par des grilles ornementales donnent le ton g駭駻al.

Hello Ian,
Very nice details, especially the wrought iron, and harmonizing colours. This kind of graffiti seems inevitable when a building, or part of it, is left unused and unattended.
