Photographer's Note

I went up in one of the towers on the western facade. From here you have a view of the old part of Chartres right below. We have a view of beautiful roofs cape of the old town. Some of the streets are just wide enough for two people to pass side by side. From here you have a view, of which the town has been for centuries. On left side of the photo, you can well observe the absence of one of the two originally planned south transept towers, right at the corner of the cathedral. The tower was left unfinished. Only the stub of the tower was built. And it remains there as it was left unfinished nearly eight hundred years ago.
