Photographer's Note
The fort of St Andre is on a hill next to Villeneuve-les-Avignon. It was built by the French king Philippe le Bel in the 1300s, and it looks over the Rhone River to Avignon on the eastern side. At the time the territory east of the Rhone belonged to the Pope, who was based in Avignon. So the fort of St Andre was an obvious signal to the Pope: this side of the river belongs to France, and we will defend it. Although the interior is mostly in ruins, the outer walls and towers are in very good condition.

Hi Vincent,
The fortress certainly looks inaccessible from this angle. Tall walls and a wide round tower on the corner. I like those thin clouds on the sky.

Hello Vincent,
A good angled upward pov with the clear blue sky providing a fantastic backdrop. Good sharpness and punchy light contrasts. Tfs!

Hello Vincent,
This is a very impressive wall, the tower appearing like an owl, with its chest puffed out in defiance and the walls becoming its outstretched wings! The message is very clear!
Excellent sharp details with vibrant colours.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Vincent,
A great view of the impressive fort on top of the hill. The round tower is placed very well in the middle with the walls running in both directions. The blue sky is a great background for the yellowish tones.
