Photographer's Note
Traditional, classic, well-known
Carrying my tripod for more than 6000 kilometres, how could I resist
The Louvre Museum in Paris is the largest museum in the world. Built as a fortified royal palace for Philip Augustus in the centre of Paris and in the axis of the Champs-ノlys馥s, parts of it were first opened to the public as a museum on November 8, 1793, during the French Revolution.
The Richelieu Wing was built by Louis XIII. It was part of the Ministry of Economy of France, which took up most of the north wing of the palace. The Ministry was moved and the wing was renovated and turned into magnificent galleries which were inaugurated in 1993, the 200th anniversary of the Louvre Museum.
The central courtyard, occupied by the large glass Louvre Pyramid built in 1989, serves as the main entrance to the museum, it was commissioned by then French president Fran輟is Mitterrand and designed by Ieoh Ming Pei. The pyramid covers the Louvre entresol and forms part of the new entrance into the museum.

Hi, Alana. Very good well-exposed night shot. The pyramid makes a very good diagonal line. The couple adds life to the scene.

Wow Alana,
I noted your gallery some time ago for all its spectacular eye popping cloud shots and remarked to myself that you and that Sigma wide angle are like two peas in a pod!!!
What can I say to you today, hmmm lots, how about...
1) always an informative note - thank you
2) the balance of the Pyramid in relation to the photo is exceptional, very striking how it emerges from the left and pierces into the middle of the composition
3) photo is sharp as a tack, great composition and POV merging the Pyramid with the Museum
4) a mirror indeed, the surfaces are like glass - wonderful
5) at last I probably could have said nothing and just admired from afar
Really great composition - A+++

Hi Alana,
It might be a well-known place, but it痴 for good reason; it痴 beautiful!
Your photo is certainly an awesome visual tribute to it, as it is stunning and so carefully elaborated. You致e choose an amazing point of view, where the light, the reflection and the contrast between new an old are all reunited to offers an outstanding result. On top of it, you致e included some lovers, as another Paris icon...
Surely one of the best image I致e ever seen from the Louvre. Very impressive work Alana!
Have a nice week-end!

Nice to see you back on TE, Alana. So, you were in Paris... And indeed, how could you resist taking this picture. Traditional, well-known... who cares? And how can I resist expressing to you my admiration for this shot. Because it is just a sheer beauty. Excellent DoF created by a very long exposure and it is interesting that the man on the left remained sharp, not having moved in 15 sec! One thing about framing: I would maybe move the camera or use another angle, so that the diagonal lines of the pyramid would go from the corners of the frame. All in all, fantastic shot.
Cheers

Hello Alana,
Yes,classic and famous...but it's so nice, good choice to make it in the evening the lightning gives a majestic touch...i like the opposition of style,i remember the scandal in the 80's when the newspapers talk about the pyramid project...it's forgot today,
nice job,
vincent

Hello Alana. I haven't much words for this photo. Is really perfect. The light and the composition very good, but the reflects are great, is the better part of the photo and a good point of the composition. Great use of the polarizer. Congratulations.

Hi Alana
Superb shot showing the contrast between the old and new with the added bonus of the reflection and the couple which are perfectly placed. I like the violety effect of the sky.
Why change when the D50 gives such good results.
