Photographer's Note

Google tells me that the Latin text above the entrance says, 添ou enter a state of harmony and happiness�. It is a fragment of Steintor, one of the Rostock town gates. To see the whole gate, check out the photo by Lars:

I am still struggling to decide whether I should share here some places of which my photos are far from perfect or rather to show a bit better quality photos but of the same places over and over again. I think from the next photo I need to show some more eye-catching shots to uphold my reputation here, ha ha.

This is a fine b&w shot of the gate. Nothing to fault here. Good sharpness and tonal range and the arch nicely frames the bg road and passing traffic. Tfs!

Hello Mariusz,
I knew I had been to this place as well, but it took some time until I remembered it is one of the gates in Rostock. Good detail of the arch and the text and coat of arms over it. The street on the other side is nicely and clearly seen as well.

Hello Mariusz,
In the past I also asked myself whether I would only show my very best photos or also those that I think are telling something about the place visited while they are clearly less good.
The site says 'Learning about the world through photography' and I believe that I also learn something about the world through less quality photos. So I also show pictures that get less smileys. However, this turns out to be a reason for some very good photographers to leave the site ...
Maybe you just have to think about what kind of pictures of others you prefer to see here.
In any case, you show us a very successful photo here. The only thing we can say is that again some very bad graffiti can be found.

I like this image, it is clear and well framed and we have many visual information here.I was trying to translate the words in latin. the translator said we are entering in a "state" of happiness and harmony, what mean the place is a happy and harmonic area. many similar words in portuguese, but the order of the words isn't easy to identify.

The beauty of the facades and architectures speaks for itself. The details and explanatory notes enrich even the simplest photos. But it is not the case of this one that is beautiful by nature, harmonic, rich and pleasant. Also entitled to a Latin lesson (hehe ...).

Magnificent composition with this cover on the wall and a great perspective through the arch, the maximum of optimism in the sign on it, I suppose that this type of cover will be very colorful, but the variation on B&W suits it very well.
I these older photos, I see them great and we take into account their age, it is good that you show them.
Point of view, sharpness, lightness, and the chosen composition are excellent.
