Photographer's Note

I took this picture in the very small (but famous town) of Oberammergau, Bavaria (Bayern), Deutschland (Germany). The town is found in a valley of the Bavarian Alps, and it is extremely beautiful with its painted and mural decorated houses. Some of the murals are of religious significance while other murals depict old German fables.

In the 17th Century the town began a play depicting the Passion of Christ to stave-off the plague. The play must have worked because they have vowed to perform the (7.5 hour) play ever ten years as long as they are without a plague. The next play is scheduled for 2010.
