Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
I have just had a trip back in time to when my husband and I sailed down the Moselle from Germany to Luxembourg.
It was one of the most happy and scenic holidays we had ever spent! The banks of the river were festooned with vineyards and there were many accessible castles, which had once protected the villages along the river.
This is Bernkastel, a ruined castle with stupendous views of the Moselle.
The castle built by Heinrich von Finstingen around 1276, and these are the ruins which can still be visited today.
However, in June 2012 unusually massive remains of a Roman fortification (fort) were found during routine work on the outer fortification. Archaeologists date these remains, which were integrated into the medieval buildings, into the late 4th and early 5th centuries.
Please see my workshop which shows a view of the Moselle from a ruined archway.
Thank you for your interest, Bev :-)

Hello Beverley,
I don't remember seeing this castle - but clearly remember the best strudel pie ever eaten... when we were there in06/2013 it was pouring rain, so the choice was to have something indoor's.
I have a picture from that place.
A good view uphill's to the prominent fort.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hello Bev,
The WS is to some extent a more sophisticated composition and shows us a very interesting scenery, but it doesn't have this magnificent fortress. The low angle underscores its impressive size and location on top of the hill covered with trees. The relatively light clouds provide a fine background.
Best regards,
Gert

Pozdrav.
Lep pogled i trenutak, interesantan i dobar tekst ...
Lepa stara arhitektura, dopbro pokazana sa lepim bojama, kontrastom i uhvacenim tenutkom sa oblacima koji dolaze i najavljuju promenu vremena.
Dobar rad sa lepom fotografijom u radionici.
Lepa rusevina zamka.
Zelim vam lepo popodne, sve najbolje.

HI Bev,
The trees are helping to frame the scene. The point of view is howing the details of the ruins of Bernkastel. The light is giving good colors rendering. Have a nice day.

Hi Bev,nice jump in the archive, waiting to do new trips, but it seems very difficult now, the virus is back. Imposing perspective for the castle ruins in a perfect quality too,i like a lot the view of river in the WS with the arc as a natural frame! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Beverley,
A great photo of this large and impressive castle on top of the green hill. The walls and round tower look very hard to conquer! The clouds with some patches of blue in the sky make a good backdrop.

Hello Beverley
I now know that the Romans partly subjugated what is today Germany, along with England and France. Previously I had the idea that the Alps and the fierce tribes of Germany back then protected them from the Romans. This mediaeval castle makes a great focal point. Tfs!

Hello Beverley,
At first sight I thought that the steep hill up to the castle was overgrown with trees. On closer inspection I see some trees on the right side but I think it are mostly vines we see. Or am I wrong?
It is a beautiful view upwards with the impressive ruins of the castle towering above the vineyard.
Also the picture in the WS shows a magnificent view. Through the arch we see a wonderful landscape with many vineyards and a pretty small town.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Bev,
I have just seen the view of the river photographed from the plane by Costantino.
It is a part of Germany which is completely unknown to me. Well, I know it but from many beautiful photos I have already seen taken along the river.
Nice ruins of the fortress and it seems it also offers spectacular views towards the river.
Great reportage,
M

Hello Beverly,
I love the POV of the main entry, emphasizing the imposing look of the impressive structure. I also like views through arches, so the WS is a treasure, too.
