Photographer's Note
The Porta Nigra is Europe biggest town-gate built by the Romans, is a notable attraction in Trier.
Built in the second-century, as part of defense system with 4 gates and a wall. This is the north gate. Added more info on the Wikipedia page about the gate.
From Trier Hauptmarkt, Simeonstrasse leads strait to the Porta Nigra, and a modern boulevard of Nordallee is on the outer side of what was the old-Roman town.
Taken under my umbrella. The colorful mini-train is for the great contrast it contributed.
In the WS a frontal view from closer POV.

Hello Ike,
The tourist train now found in many towns adds a nice dash of colour to the otherwise grey surroundings and offers a sense of scale for the massive gateway. Good rendering of the detail in the old stones.

Hi Ike,
The distance between the tourist bus and the gate is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the architecture of the gate. The rainy sky is gioving a good contrast to the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello, Ike!
The colorful bus contrasts beautifully with the old building behind! The cloudy weather makes it stand out even more in the composition! Wonderful job!

Hello Ike,
I have travelled here before to visit Trier's Christmas markets and you have certainly done a nice job capturing the grandeur of this remarkable building. Nice touch including the little train which adds colour contrast to the black facade of the town gate.

Hello Ike.
A great monument captured a special moment, it's a shame what this black stone of this great door, you have done intelligently POV, including the little train, whose colorful, happy an image without it, would dull, I the equally sad when I have visited Trier.
A superb management of the brightness, sharpness is also perfect to enjoy it, along the beautiful color.
Very well done.
Have a good day.
Best wishes.

Hello Ike,
the Porta Nigra is a very unusual and really fascinating structure. I like very much the way you captured this scene with the colourful bus invading the frame. There's a very fine perspective and it's interesting that, despite the vivid, eye-catching colours of the bus, its dynamism doesn't fail to lead us to the dark, textured gate. Depth and sharpness are excellent, the chromatic contrast is striking. The workshop picture is great too, I particularly liked the presence of a person on the gate. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a good night,
Ourania

Hi Ike,
I like this photo for three major reasons, the very nice color contrast, excellent viewpoint and well chosen tight crop which eliminates all unwanted distractions. The view up makes the gate pretty dominant. Well done.

Good Morning Ike,
Oh, we are so alike!
When I visited Trier a few years ago, I took a shot almost identical to this! The train make=s a really colourful addition to the Porta Nigra b/g.
Lovely viewpoint, the train entering from the bottom l/h corner and leading into the shot.
The wet conditions, although not giving a good sky, have worked in your favour by creating colourful reflections on the road.
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hi Ike,
Nice contrast of this really black gate and red-yellow turists' train. impressive view of this ancient building.
I was in Trier a long time ago. Then at home, looking at the photos, realized I saw only one side of the gate. Why?? So when I was there for the second time, I went round it several times.
All these scaffolds are is really a nuisance :(((

Hello Ike,
You're capturing well this architecture by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see strong/black town-gate built by the Romans. It's tasteful for Passage of arched. And, it's good at color contrast with mini-train. I feel depth of history including the photograph of WS.
Kind regards,

Hi Ike,
Don't you just hate scaffolding as a photographer...and yet there's nothing we can do about it....well, besides a good cropping!? :) No matter the circumstance, you've come away with a strong depiction of contrast and color. That red and yellow train would be noticeable in virtually any setting, but against the blackened exterior of the town gate and mostly overcast sky, it just jumps off the screen! I like too that the wet pavement has made for enough of a reflection to give an added little bonus effect to the scene. Nice capture and smart composition to accentuate the bright, bold colors. It's good to be back and catch up on your gallery! Have a great day ahead.
Friendly wishes,
Jason

Hello Ike
I see an evident paradox opposing vibrancy to the dull monument that apparently escaped the conquerors air raids of 1945.
Sad souvenir reeked of "black" tyranny.

Hello Ike,
I have so many nice memories from this city(Iエve been there with my class on a school trip).
Despite quite poor weather you did the best out of this scene.I mean for example the timing.Capturing this mini-train was an excellent idea to enlive a little bit the scene and to bring more colors into it.
Nicely composed and executed shot!
Wish You a nice weekend

Howdy Ike,
Nice blend of the ancient Roman Porta Nigra, still in great condition after all these centuries and the funky bright colored tourist train.
I had a wonderful lunch here nearby outside on my whirlwind tour of Bavarian Deutschland.
Well done,

well, I can honestly say that I've never seen this piece of architecture before.
its funny to see in the WS photo how people are standing in the archways.
too bad the day wasn't better for photography here, but what can you do right?
amazing to think its still standing after all those years, that always impresses me.
and thanks for the Map View

Ciao Ike
Buona domenica

Hello Ike,
amazing that such historical buildings have been preserved through the centuries. Pity, though my mother was born in that area and a few of my relatives lived not far from there, I'm never even been to Trier.
Well captured! Really a nice contrast with the colorful tourist vehicle.
Have a nice weekend

Hello Ike,
A stark contrast between the colorful yellow and red tourist tram at left and the blackened town gate at right. It looks like it has suffered from a firebombing, or maybe just pollution from factories and smoke belching traffic? Perhaps when nearby Czecoslovakia was under the Soviet boot and had many factories causing acid rain in Europe. Tfs.

Hello Ike,
I had another look at your random pictures and found this entertaining composition. The Roman gate is impressive but dark, and the weather was dull, but the bright sightseeing "train" provides an extremely cheerful complement which made this a very eye-catching photo.

Hi Ike,
the weather didn't spoil you there but you achieved a lovely effect with the very dark architecture and this colorful tourist train driving in.
There is something charming in this contrast.
Very well spotted,
