Photographer's Note

One more blue hour photo from Lubeck. This time the spire of St Petri church. The interesting fact about this church is that you can climb to its tower for a stunning view of the old town. I have showed two views from that tower taken in the blue hour before.
This photo has much more typical blue hour color of the sky than the two previous ones which I presented, although still slightly purplish. Over time I learned that the color other than blue, usually more turning into purple, is due to the cloudy sky and different temperature reading of the camera. Of course, if you record the raw file, you can convert the color changing the white balance setting to the more blue version. However, I also realised that this purple touch is often very natural, and it often gives photos a nice ambiance. These days sometimes I keep it and sometimes I change it, whatever suits best. The old photos which I show here though were recorded just as jpg files so I don稚 have the luxury of playing around. I am still quite happy with them though.

Hello Mariusz,
A great blue hour photo of one of the many spires in L�beck. The warm lights along the water (or is it ice?) illuminate the lovely fa軋des so well and are also nicely reflected.

Hi Mariusz,another great blue hour,maybe the best from Lubeck because a bit late and with the fantastic silk effect on the water made by the long exposure,it seems a frozen river in this way. No comment about the quality always top! Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Mariusz,
I was a bit confused by the foreground. Was it a road or a river? Then I saw that you had cataloged your photo under the theme 'Riverside @ blue hour'. That made it clear.
Too bad that the river side has become one long parking lot. Fortunately, the houses and the church tower much higher above the cars.
Nice reflections of the trees.

A superb blue hour shot and the time exposure has given the river a glassy silk like appearance. Good sharpness and the bg tower and spire do indeed look like they'd offer great views from the observation deck. Tfs!

Hello Mariusz,

It is rewarding looking back through archives; I'm sure you have had fun revisiting this site.
This is a much wider view, with lovely details of the adjacent buildings, as well as the proud, tall spire of the church, strongly positioned.
The artificial lights add a glorious warmth to the scene and create eclectic tree shadows across the river.
