Photographer's Note

I'm sure that you always wanted to have a look into my rain barrel ... ;-))

Since more than one week we have quite low temperatures here - up to -17ｰC in the nights and even during the mostly sunny days it didn't get "warmer" than -6ｰC.

Unfortunately I've forgotten to empty my rain barrel in the garden - but this gave me the opportunity of taking this photo.
It's interesting that in the ice which wasn't touched or agitated by anything there are energies which cause deep cracks criss-crossing the ice block.

In the workshop you can see other "patterns" in the ice.

Hoffentlich zerspringt dein Regenfass nicht. Interessante Strukturen, die das Eis hervorbringt. Ich bin am Wochenende deinem Rat gefolgt und nicht nur 2 Minuten aus dem Auto f�r ein Foto herausgesprungen :-)

Hallo lieber Frank,
Dies ist auch eine meiner "Lieblingsthemen" . Das "schoene" in einfacher und unerwarteter Umgebung entdecken. Wer wuerde sich so etwas vorstellen; dass eine zugefrorene Wassertonne diesen Graphik bildet.
Schoen einmal aus der dem "gebrauchten" 'rauszutanzen.

Hi Frank. Very interesting that you looked into rain barrel for treasures. Miracle of nature "in a bucket".
And, I guess, this is as personal as allowed at TE ;-)
Went for "a hike" up north, -24ｰC, blue sky and sunny Saturday. On the way back, snow storm in Mississauga.

na, das ist mal ganz was Anderes! Gute Idee, das Eis auf der Regentonne zu fotografieren, es ist wirklich ein sches Kunstst�ck. Auch die WS Fotos sind toll.

nice to see you again,too! From the thumbnail it seemed to me that you've captured a piece of the earth from the moon. Very good close-up shot, with great details and good dof. A very interesting abstract work from you.

I don't know if this is art or geology, but in either case it shows us that ice contracts and expands and your rain barrel doesn't. :-)

PS. I've started playing table tennis at the local community center. It's for "seniors," but it's at a pretty high level. So far my hip and knees are just a little annoyed (but nothing like playing tennis on hard courts) and it's pretty good exercise with diverse movements, hand-eye coordination and thinking. I like it.

Schrecklich schoen :))) Ich war gerade eine Stunde im Freien und habe mir einen - excuse me - abgefrohren. Herrliche Muster im Eis, sie machen ihre eigene Kunst. Toll gesehen und umgesetzt. Ich habe meine Giesskanne draussen vergessen, mal schauen, was ich dort vorfinde :))) Beste Gruesse, schoener Abend, bei Kerzenschein vielleicht ... Barbara.

Bonsoir, cher Frank,
C'est vrai que la nature a ce don extraordinaire de transformer notre environnement. Ces blocs de glace formant des tableaux naturels nous offrent une vari騁� de formes que l'homme aurait du mal � reproduire.
Une id馥 originale et de circonstance compte tenu du froid actuel.
Ici, la temp駻ature se radoucit doucement, mais s皞ement, peut-黎re est-ce l'annonce de la pluie ?
