Photographer's Note
Church of St. Nicholas is one of several attractive churches in Wismar. I was surprised to find out that this is the second highest brick basilica church in the world! Even more surprising was that the highest is in Lubeck where I lived for a couple of years. Looking at these beautiful places which I visited in the pre-digital times I wish I could re-visit them someday again
About the church from Wikipedia:
The Church St. Nicholas of Wismar was built from 1381 until 1487 as a church for sailors and fishermen. St. Nicholas is one of the finest testaments to mediaeval brick architecture in northern Germany. Based upon the design of Marienkirche (Saint Mary's) in Lbeck it is the second highest brick basilica church in the world after St. Mary's of Lbeck. St. Nicholas along with St. Mary's and St. George's, is one of the three great churches that dominate the skyline of the city of Wismar and since 2002 it is on the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the old Hanseatic City.

Witaj Mariusz
Uma bonita e imponente catedral. Impressionante constru鈬o em tijolos. As pessoas ao lado mostram a escala de grandeza e as janelas enormes tamb駑. Se voce tiver fotos do interior mostre-nos tamb駑. Belo trabalho.

Hello Mariusz, interesting fact about the height of the church.
From your viewpoint it does indeed look high.
Good sharp shot.
The people add to the scene bringing extra colour and scale.
Kind regards, Jean.

A fine side view that enhances the height of the tower, Mariusz, also good scale managed with the people at its foot.
Looking at the virtual tour on Google-map, the church tower is overwhelming in height above the town houses.
Have a nice friday,
Ike

Hello Mariusz,
I have found big churches and cathedrals even more interesting, ever since I read the novel 'Pillars of the Earth' which is a fictional book but very well researched, and drawing upon sound historical information.
It is not until you see the figures, that you obtain a true understanding of the gigantic scale of this church. To build a church bigger and higher was definitely about being the best! Also rich people believed it secured them a place in Heaven, the more that they used their wealth to the overt glory of God.
The way the church dwarfs the trees as well as the people is significant in your presentation.
Your pre digital shot is sharp but, you wouldn't know that until after it had been developed. Oh, that does seem tedious, now!
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello Mariusz,
It is a beautiful and impressive brick church, I remember the interior being entirely of brick as well. It wasn't easy to get the tower in one photo either, but you did a great job with the green trees as a nice natural frame.

Czesc Mariousz!
The people in the fg add scale and animate the scene. Good sharpness and another superb upward pov. The tree at right adds depth and layering to the composition. Tfs!

a nice perspective of this church in bricks, it doesn't look so imposing, but most churches we think about are in cement or in stone.. I am surprised poland hasn't one higher.. you are the king of the brick buildings!! nice details of its architecture.

Hello Mariusz,
As long as there is a beach not too far away and ice cream is sold, you can re-visit these places.
It's also a surprise to me that the two highest brick basilicas in the world are found in Germany.
Your photo gives a good indication of the height by means of the group of visitors in the foreground.
Good that you found some green to frame the picture.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Mariusz.
This brick church is a marvel, with that great height and double windows to illuminate the nave well, it has a powerful tower with a curious finish on its roof, the heavily pruned trees give a nice contrast of color.
Great color that highlights the beauty of the image.
Very well managed both the brightness and the sharpness of the image.
Nice work. That we enjoy.
Have a nice day.
Very best regards.
Luis.
