Photographer's Note
I am back to my Lubeck archives. Holstentor is probably the most recognizable structure in town. To see a more classic view of it in a wider context follow this link:
https://www.trekearth.com/viewphotos.php?l=8&p=1183022
Here a less popular angle. I took advantage of the naked trees to frame this famous town gate. I made a long note about the blue hour under my previous post. As much as I was late for blue hour in the previous photo, here the photo was taken too soon. It does not make it worse of course, I still like it. In the past I was simply walking around taking many photos along the evening. Now I rather pick a spot and I stay there taking multiple shots and trying to find the best blue houe moment.
Following Paul痴 question, I found a very interesting article about the physics behind the blue hour here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twilight
Sadly, it seems too complex sometimes and the implications are not easy to translate for a photographer, hence everything I wrote before is true but if you were curious why the blue hour happens follow that article. In the end, I believe it is all about balancing the artificial and natural light. Without well illuminated objects, the blue hour is in my opinion not nearly as attractive.

Hello Mariusz,
Before I went to Lbeck, I most of all looked forward to seeing Holstentor. This is a great photo with the two large round towers nicely seen in between the trees. Nice warm colours combined with the blue sky.

Great gate, great picture, Mariusz. Lubeck is on our list of places to visit (especially when we have to stay yet another summer in Europe) because it is the city of Thomas Mann (whose Magic Mountain I climbed) and because it is the favourite city of my mother in law who passed away last year. She always brought marzipan for our daughter from Lubeck...we have to follow in her footsteps. We will.
I love the two pictures vs two towers combination here. Lovely soft yet clear light. Great!

Hello Mariusz,
Thanks for the link to the twilight article. I will read it later.
I agree that the best pictures taken during the blue hour are those with well illuminated objects. Personally, I don't have much of a preference for the early or late blue hour. More defining for the picture are the buildings or objects that contrast strong with the sky.
Your chosen point of view here is only possible at that time of the year when the trees have no foliage yet. I'm not a fan of winter, but I realize that the leafless branches of trees provide on lots of places an extra opportunity for photography.
Very remarkable city gate with wonderful towers!
Best regards, Paul

Hello Mariusz,
I think what you have found about Blue Hour photographs is experience and have applied this to understand how to get the best results.
This is a vey attractive photograph, the red brick of the town gate building showing up warmly against the cool sky.
This was the perfect season for a photograph from this angle; with leaves on the tree, the shot would have been impossible.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello Mariusz,
Do you know what I like on this picture? the divided red and yellow colors from the blue/grey sky that still had enough light combined with illumination upon the beautiful Museum building.
The red bricks edifice works well for this photo.
My best regards,
Ike

Czesc Mariusz!
The motion blurred light trails of red and white from the passing traffic add interest and suggest long shutter exposure time of 10-30 seconds. Wonderful warm cold colour contrasts with excellent sharpness. Tfs!

Pozdrav.
Lep pogled, dobar tekst ...
Lepe siluete drveca i stara arhitektura, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama i kontrastom.
Gola stabla su omogucila lep pogled.
Lepa fotografija i uhvaceni trenutak.
Svaki clanak nosi sa sobom neku tejnu i nedorecenost, ali istina je najvaznija.
Zelim vam lepo popodne, sve najbolje.

Hi Mariusz.
I went to the photo of the link that you indicate and that I marveled at it with that wide view of the door of the old wall, I suppose, and the churches, this city I would love to go, in this beautiful photo you have captured it very well at first flat, the trees without leaves allow your vision and give a magnificent graphics, very well the moment of the blue hour.
Good brightness and sharpness management.
Very well done. I like it.
Have a great day.
Very best regards.
Luis.
