Photographer's Note

I must admit that I wasn't at this student protest because of any political or empathic reasons. I wasn't even there to try to get a good photo of students in action. Actually, I was doing my shopping when hundreds of students, waving banners protesting against the raising of university fees in Baden-Wuerttemberg to 500 euros per semester (1000 euros a year), started appearing from side streets, holding up the normally efficient trams.

This shot was taken of the main student spokesman, as he got people chanting their demands for afforable education. Dispite my abysmal grasp on German, his energy and enthusiasm alone were quite impressive. Although you can't tell from this shot, the background is the side of their "battle bus", with the slightly confusing banner "love or hate?" on the side.
