Photographer's Note

Glhwein (hot, spiced, usually red wine) is my favourite of German christmas traditions. Traditional christmas markets always have glhwein for sale to warm up on often chilly weather.
In Weihnachtsmarkt of Trier they even put up a weinstube. Even though this has the style and comfort of old weinstubes this is a temporary construction.
Glhwein is often served from specially made foot shaped mugs. A small deposit is paid for the mugs. If one returns the mug the deposit is returned, but many take mugs with them as souvenirs.
