Photographer's Note
This photo presents a lovely square in Chania Old Town on Crete. You will come across it while walking the main pedestrian street, Chalidon, south of the Venetian Harbour. Behind my back I have a lovely church, but I will not give you its name because there are three very different names for it on Google Maps.
The title refers again to my struggle with the coloring scheme. I think I have figured it out already, and in the result you will see a difference in my photos from now on. If you remember I had complained that sometimes the colors of my photos are messed up, in particular the sky turning slightly into a green shade. If you are a Canon user, you may be aware of a setting which is called "Picture Style". It is a setting which holds multiple variables with which RAW files are converted to JPG format. You can do the conversion by default within your camera or later on the computer screen with the software provided for the RAW files conversion. With my previous camera I have decided to use a hardcore approach and I used setting called "faithful". The colors were supposed to be by definition the closest to reality. It worked very well. The same setting I have applied to my recently purchased camera, Canon EOS 90D, and then the trouble started. At first I thought it was an effect of various monitors and indeed at different monitors the effect was more or less pronounced. On my main monitor I didn't see any difference at all but on other occasionally the sky was turning subtly greenish. I started to look closer at that. In fact, this same greenish touch of the sky I observe everyday in the reality, but having said that it does not look very natural in a photo. Faithful setting makes the sky more grey than blue. If someone subsequently makes the photo brighter, the grey turns greenish. This effect is particularly strong with photos taken with Canon EOS 90D. Fis2 is using for this setting value "Landscape", which is great for landscapes but not so good for people photos. It emphasizes the blue color of the sky and the green color of the vegetation. I decided to give it a try now with the setting "Auto". So no more "faithful" photos from me here. This photo was converted from CR3 with setting "Auto" already. In the result the sky gets more blue. It is possible to achieve the same result by playing with color curves but it is very difficult to find a right balance manually.

Hello Mariusz, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the colour on my screen, you must have got it sorted!
I like the composition here, with the pattern of the paving providing guiding lines across the square to the buildings.
I guess that normally in August, this place would be very busy with people? Unless it is siesta time.
A beautiful blue sky.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Mariusz,
It is a lovely square and of course remarkably quiet, but we all know the reason for that of course. The foreground looks inviting with the small benches with lampposts and palm trees around them and the building of the town make a great backdrop. Fine light and pleasant blue sky also.

Hello Mariusz,
Taking into account the paving stones you have taken the right spot for this photo. Yet the square looks rather empty.
I suppose everyone was eating ice cream somewhere.
And that ice cream would of course melt too quickly in the square.
A beautiful blue dome peaks over the roofs. Perhaps an idea to have a look there when you wander on your own in Hania one day?
This photo gives me a fairly modern view of this Cretan town.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Mariusz,I really enjoyed reading about your struggle with camera, colors and contrasts, and I appreciate you very much because you can see that you really care about offering a good result. And also this time it's absolutely perfect for me, it's a great photo despite the view that isn't the best of the show. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hi Mariusz
The colours here look fine. I always start with the RAW version of photos and use the Photoshop RAW converter, except for old ones like my current Irish series which was with my first digital camera where I didn't have them saved as RAW!
A good photo of one of my favourite towns.
cheers

You had no problem with the colors, Mariusz, only one remark / mereley a suggestion: I am not keen of using a polarizer, as this would be a reason for colors distortion, in my humble opinion. Never use one myself.
As for the place, an attractive paved road shown in fine depth and clarity, vivid outcome with the mingling diff. tones.
My best regards,
Ike

Czesc Mariusz!
Nice warm cold color contrasts between the blue sky and red tiles, roofs and facades and the colours look natural. The fg tile patterns add linear perspective. Tfs!
