Photographer's Note
I suppose this old Chevvy must have been built in about 1952-ish. What it was doing on Paxos I don't know, as the whole island is only about 7x4 km. Perhaps this accounts for its relatively OK condition: I'll bet it's got a pretty low mileage for its age. There aren't many cars on the island, and I wonder if this vehicle has ever been in 4th gear! I think it was still in use, probably transporting olives to the presses. I liked the red bodywork against the dusty green of the trees.

hi will,
whata lovely old car, amazing that it's still going. the colours are very appealing especially as they are illuminated by the sunlight creating reflections on the bodywork. the driver has ignored the no parking sign on the tree, but then i can't imagine many traffic problems or traffic wardens on a 7x4 km island.
have a great weekend,
brian

Hi Will, Indeed, strange view of this old car on this tiny island. But even 7 km is sometimes better to go by car then to go. Even more surprises me the sign no parking there. it is really funny. I like this composition with the pale red car in the olive orchard and the blue sky behind.

Hello Will,
As an old car "buff", I can really appreciate this one, even although I prefer the pre-war cars rather than ones, like this, from the late 1940s or 1950s. But, much though the British tended to believe that these bulky American cars were poorly built, that was most definitely not the case - they were extremely well made cars and your note that this one is still functioning is testament to that.
But I digress! You have caught this lovely old vehicle well, sojourning in the shade of a fine olive tree which, interestingly, seems to sport something which looks remarkably like a "No Parking" sign! The lighting is just delightful and the maroon of the car and the rust on its bumper contrast well but sympathetically with the deep greens of the foliage and the deep blue of the distant sky.
Your composition is excellent too, the exposure is spot-on and the colours and details and clarity are superb.
Lovely!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Will
Great car, great picture. I like the soft tones in your shot, the reflection on the car's side and that 'no parking' sign, which adds an extra smile here. :)
Cheers

Hi Will. I'm a lover of old and rusted cars that are forgotten somewhere in the countryside. Interesting in your photo is the parking sign. My compliments for this beautiful photo.

Hello Will
Never realized that Paxos is that small. A beautiful old car, captured in a pleasing setting at a olive orchard. I imagine that for the local farmers this kind of transport is still quite common.
have a good sunday

Hi Will
Great you find something special there, that mighty chunk of classic Yank iron runs out gas perhaps or just having a quick break under that olive tree. Great composition, DOF and exposure. Well done, Will.
Good written note as well.
Kind regards

Hi Will
sorry, i noticed this photo on your "random gallery" page when i clicked onto your profile.
I just couldn't resist to see what it was all about.
so strange to see the split front windshield, they don't make them like that anymore!
the body is actually looking fairly solid, unless there's more dents and rust than what we see from this vantage point.
glad you stopped by to collect the scene, i bet there's lots of history and stories to be told from its owner!
cool post, cool find
cheers
