The costume of Almyros was worn until about 1940, in all the villages of the area located in the southern part of the prefecture of Magnesia [1]. Specifically from the northern slopes of Orthyos (Gardiki) and the mountains of Farsala, to the Pagasitic Gulf. Nea Anchialos and Efxenoupoli, as well as other refugee villages, had their own costumes. The costume of Almyros was the same in all the villages and their inhabitants were distinguished by the turva, the tagari that in each village had a different design.

The women's Almyrian costume, also known as the manhood, took its name from the two outer garments that characterized it, while the costume remains the same for all ages and occasions in terms of the pieces that make it up. The bridal and festive costume differs from the everyday only in the quality of the construction materials and the embroidery decoration, but also of the jewelry. The girls first wore the men when they turned 14 to show at the Sunday festivities that they were of marriageable age as wearing headscarves.

The Almyrian costume consisted of the everyday shirt, the two wedding or festive shirts - the inner shirt and the second shirt -, the anter sleeve, the anter sokardisio, the winter everyday jacket, the apron, the belt, the socks, the in winter the elderly also wore siguni.

On the head, the women tied the tsemberi and the handkerchief and adorned the kosia with the kosida or various colored ribbons. The jewels of the costume were the females, the brooch, the kopitsari, the tokades and the earrings.

Η φορεσιά του Αλμυρού φορέθηκε ως το 1940 περίπου, σε όλα τα χωριά της περιοχής που βρίσκεται στο νότιο τμήμα του νομού Μαγνησίας. Συγκεκριμένα από τις βόρειες πλαγιές της Όρθυος (Γαρδίκι) και τα βουνά των Φαρσάλων, ως τον Παγασητικό Κόλπο. Η Νέα Αγχίαλος και η Ευξεινούπολη, όπως και άλλα προσφυγικά χωριά είχαν τις δικές του φορεσιές. Η φορεσιά του Αλμυρού ήταν σε όλα τα χωριά όμοια και οι κάτοικοί τους διακρίνονταν από τον τουρβά, το ταγάρι που σε κάθε χωριό είχε διαφορετικό σχέδιο.

Η γυναικεία αλμυριώτικη φορεσιά, γνωστή και ως αντεριά, πήρε την ονομασία της από τα δύο εξωτερικά ρούχα που τη χαρακτήρισαν, ενώ η φορεσιά παραμένει όμοια για όλες τις ηλικίες και περιστάσεις ως προς τα κομμάτια που την αποτελούν. Η νυφική και η γιορτινή φορεσιά διαφέρουν από την καθημερινή μόνο ως προς την ποιότητα των υλικών κατασκευής και του κεντητικού διακόσμου, αλλά και των κοσμημάτων. Οι κοπέλες έβαζαν για πρώτη φορά τα αντεριά όταν έκλειναν τα 14 για να δείξουν στις Κυριακάτικες γιορτές ότι ήταν σε ηλικία γάμου ως αντεροφορεμένες μαντηλούσες.

Η αλμυριώτικη φορεσιά αποτελούταν από το καθημερινό ποκάμισο, τα δύο νυφικά ή γιορτινά �το μέσα ποκάμισο και το δεύτερο ποκάμισο-, το αντερί μανικίσιο, το αντερί σωκαρδίσιο, τη χειμωνιάτικη καθημερινή τζάκα, την ποδιά, τη ζώνη, τις κάλτσες, τα παπούτσια και το χειμώνα οι ηλικιωμένες φορούσαν και σιγκούνι.

Στο κεφάλι οι γυναίκες έδεναν το τσεμπέρι και το μαντήλι και στόλιζαν την κόσια με την κοσίδα ή διάφορες χρωματιστές κορδέλες. Τα κοσμήματα της φορεσιάς ήταν τα θηλυκωτάρια, η καρφίτσα, το κοπιτσάρι, οι τοκάδες και τα σκολαρίκια.
