Firkas Castle
The castle of Firkas was built in the 16 th century by the Venetian dominants of the island, in order to protect both the town and the port of Chania. It is a historic place for Crete in general and Chania in particular. It is on this castle that in 1897 were raised the flags of the Great Powers (Britain, France, Russia and Italy), a fact that signaled the autonomy of Crete and the deliberation from the Ottoman dominance. It is at the Firkas Castle that on the 1 st of December 1913, El.Venizelos declared the incorporation of Crete to the territory of Greece. Today the castle hosts the Maritime museum and a small theatre.

Hello Thanasis,

Congratulations on your recent debut at Trekearth with some genuinely beautiful photos. This one certainly has elements of a surrealistic atmosphere, created with a very slow shutter speed (1/2 second), and a surprisingly good depth-of-field despite the large aperture (f/2.8). Did you use a tripod, as I did in this 30 second time exposure?

i colori sono un p� troppo saturi per i miei gusti, ma l'effetto ottenuto � molto bello.
Ottimo il taglio verticale e buona la composizione.

Ce ciel dramatique donne une atmosph鑽e myst駻ieuse � la composition. Une belle lumi鑽e 馗laire le ch穰eau et les couleurs sont tr鑚 vibrantes.

Καλησπέρα Θανάση,
Πάντα το τοπίο πριν ξεσπάσει η καταιγίδα είναι υπέροχο. Υπάρχει ένταση και δυναμισμό στα σύννεφα και το νερό δημιουργεί όμορφη αντίθεση με το χρυσαφένιο χρώμα απο τα φώτα. Θα πρότεινα να έκοβες την εικόνα απο κάτω να μην φαίνεται η αποβάθρα.

Γειά σου Θάνο, πολύ εντυπωσιακή η φωτογραφία σου επεξεργασμένη τεχνικά με δραματικά χρώματα, σκιές και αποχρώσεις του μπλέ με αντίθεση το ρομαντικά φωτισμένο περίφημο κάστρο.Η ενδιαφέρουσα και ανημερωτική σημείωση συμπληρώνει το όμορφο σκηνικό!
Αλήθεια γιατί δεν ανεβάζεις κι άλλες φωτογραφίες? Πάντα κοιτάω να δώ αν ανέβασες καμία καινούργια.

Ίσως μια από τις πιο ξεχωριστές εικόνες στην γκαλερί σου. Φοβερός ουρανός ανοιχτός ενώ τα κτήρια φωτίζονται. Δεξιά κάτω θα ήθελε λιγάκι κόψιμο το έδαφος μόνο.
