Panagia islet

The verdant islet located just in front of the harbor of Parga, in a very short distance, which you can cover even swimming. Panagia island owes its name to the Virgin Mary church with its characteristic steeple, located there. At the highest point of the island is a beautiful French castle, built by the French occupiers in 1808 during their stay here (1797- 1814) in order to control the small boats in the harbor, which was not visible from the castle. From this castle has survived the precinct, the gate and the fortress, all smothered in green of the island.

This really is a scene that is perfectly called idyllic. The quaint and bright attractive chapel and surround area, the staircase leading off into tropical looking forest, the sky, the color of the sea and the little boot bobbing up and down, such a classic combination of points. You really chose the perfect moment to capture this.

Nice capture from this beautiful corner. Parga and Preveza are well known names in the Ottoman History, most probably you know it.

Hello Danos,

The construction of the image is well done and the light has been well exploited. This small chapel in it's nest of rocks and greenery looks very peaceful and the small boat add to the composition. I notice the old tires on the small wharf to garantee a soft landing to boats.

Hello Danos,

A lovely little corner of Greece, featuring the typical white church and the deep blue waters. The vegetation looks particularly verdant, making a colourful division between the deep blue of the sea and the pale blue of the sky, confirming your classical thirds composition.
The little boat makes a pleasing focal feature, adding a splash of colour and making a firm link with the terracotta roof.

The red dinghy contrasts superbly against the deep blue sea and lighter toned sky, and the red roof at right also against both sea and sky. Good sharpness and the rocky shoreline interspersed with lots of greenery and trees is certainly very beautiful. Punchy light contrasts and the black tyres along the concrete pier add interest. Tfs.

A perfect composition � here nature shows off its beauty, the small motor boat and the roof of the church add red highlight, much like chop marks in a Chinese scroll, the rugged rocks, the green trees, mountains and sky... all collaborate to make a postcard.
