Photographer's Note

Near Kastro village the visitor of the village can see this spectacular little chapel of the 'The seven martyrs' to hang on above the sea.

Kastro-Castle

The village lies two kilometers East of Apollonia. Passing by Kato Petali and after the first turn of the road, in front of you lies a village of rare beauty. Admiring Kastro-Castle,you have a glance in the past, when the pirates acted in Mediterranean Sea. Its architecture had a purpose. Kastro was in the Venetian Season a village-fortress, built in the top and of a small hill with unique purpose its protection from the invasions of pirates. The exterior walls of houses constitute the wall of the castle itself. In this houses lived mainly the lower caste of the island while the aristocracy was fortified to the top of the hill. To entry in Kastro even today the old entrances called "lodgies" are used, that in the past were protected by martial towers. Even today the beauty of Kastro remains intact from time passing by. The new houses and interventions have being made totally respecting the architecture of the area and the natural landscape.

Hello Danos,
The deep blue sea surrounds the small rocky peninsula so wonderfully. The small chapel looks so nice on top of the rocks. Its white colour and light blue dome make a nice contrast with the rest of the photo. The light is very pleasant.

Hi, Danos. Great point of view to capture this beautiful church also called the chapel of the seven martyrs sitting on top of a Hill with beautiful surroundings. I don't know why the chapel high is on the rock, nobody can come to chapel on along the long stairway.
Sharpness and clarity are perfect made.
Composition and presentation are very pleasant.

A super-lit moment from above the rock and the church built upon.
The paved trail leading to the small chapel added a leading line for the viewer to appreciate depth and slope to that location.
The deep-blue color of the water is awesome element on the photo.

I have seen many Greek chapels in similar beautiful places with perfect views of the sea. I have often wondered when people go there, and who has the key. Your photo is anyway very nicely composed with a fine balance between blue and brown and with an excellent light.

Has a safe feel about it sitting on top of rugged rocky outcrop surrounded by choppy water, like a place you'd want to be in bad times. The stunning blue dome makes a strong eye pointer along with the wide angle from which you shot it, beautifully bathed in warm sunshine. Lovely rich colours, good shadow detail and contrast. Fantastic location, the this small chapel at the top of this rocky mound, which is almost an island, a path a little longer to get there, wonderful contrast dry rocky terrain, with the deep blue sea.
Color, sharpness and brightness are captured excellently.

love this shot, isn't it amazing how they put these chapels on such strange locations! this is pretty cool indeed.

seems like a steep kind of climb and descent to get to it, but i'd love to take a walk down here.
smart idea to keep the sky OUT of the frame, looks best this way.

Hello Danos,

The path makes a sinuous lead the focal chapel, so that we have plenty of opportunity to absorb the details of the rocky peninsula and the deep blue, surrounding sea.
I think a small crop from the right would place the chapel more on the thirds line.

A sublime downward pov on the isolated chapel atop the barren headland. Good sharpness & the yellow red tufts of hardy plants at right contrast well with the blue sea to give a great warm cold color contrast. Tfs!
