colours of monastery
The Holy Monastery of Agia Anastasia is situated to the south-east of Thessaloniki near the village of Vasilika. It is a medium-sized monastery that was founded about 900 years ago, having as its patron Saint Anastasia the Healer (Φαρμακολύτρια - literally "Bringer of Potions"), whose relics were guarded here until last year when they were stolen. This was a highly unusual event as it appears the thieves had no other purpose than taking these holy remains - all the other treasures of the church remained untouched. Since last April, when the theft took place, flags around the monastery have flown at half mast, black drapes have covered coats-of-arms, and lenten colours have been displayed in the church.

Hello Costantino,
This is a very interesting building with fine stone walls and an attractive top floor in partly bright blue with a beautiful balcony. The trees in the courtyard are lovely, especially those with red leaves. It's a very well exposed and sharp photo.

Interesting note. Who could steal the relics and what for? Very strange story. I can't guess the purpose of such a theft. It happened often but many hundreds years ago.
Beautiful colours of these balconies and autumn trees.

Very beautiful architecture with a most remarkable upper floor.
Especially that balcony draws our attention.
Also the last red leaves of the trees on the foreground that contrast well with the blue of the top of the monastery.

Wonderful mix of colors, autumn season's orange and the beautiful painted wooden balconies and windows.
POV looking upwards well rendered, no lense distortion that usually happenes in cases like this.

The monastery offers a great range of appealing colours, especially the blue really stands out. The autumn colours in the trees on the right hand side add very nicely to the colour palette. Good POV and composition.

lovely composition which well emphasizes the beauty of this original monastery. I like how it is built in two layers: made of the grey rock and colorfully painted upper part. It seems to be freshly painted so clean and elegant.

μου αρέσει πολύ ο τρόπος που χρησιμοποίησες την προοπτική για να γεμίσεις το κάδρο με την αρχιτεκτονική του μοναστηριού αλλά και για να τη διανθίσεις με όμορφα φυσικά στοιχεία.
