Photographer's Note

The Church of the Savioris located on Egnatia Street near the Byzantine Kalamaria Gate on the eastern side of the old city. It is one of the 15 Paleochristian and Byzantine Monuments of Thessaloniki that were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1988.
The church has been dated to about 1350.
The ground plan of the church consists of a square with a tetraconchin scribed with in it. The exterior of the sanctuary apseissemihexagonal in form.
The wall-paintingsuncovered in the dome, beneath a thicklayer of soot, arearranged in threezones. At the pinnacle of the domeisdepicted the figure of Christ. These wall-paintings are dated to the period 1350-70.
