The reconstructed Treasury of the Athenians, built to commemorate their victory at the Battle of Marathon.

From the entrance of the upper site, continuing up the slope on the Sacred Way almost to the Temple of Apollo, are a large number of votive statues, and numerous so-called treasuries. These were built by many of the Greek city-states to commemorate victories and to thank the oracle for her advice, which was thought to have contributed to those victories. These buildings held the offerings made to Apollo; these were frequently a "tithe" or tenth of the spoils of a battle. The most impressive is the now-restored Athenian Treasury, built to commemorate their victory at the Battle of Marathon in 490 BC

Hi Piotr,the reconstruction has preserved this magnificent monument that celebrates one of the most famous battles of ancient Greek history, we see that some pieces are new, such as the columns, but the same style has been preserved, a very brilliant and detailed perfect capture. Hello Piotr,
As always you show us a very well balanced composition. The building to the side, the large rock opposite it and the terrace in between. Trees partly surround the Treasury which is catching a perfect light. Very well done.

This is a very beautifully composed photograph, where the natural stone makes a very natural link to the focal, manmade creation.

Wonderful this building in honor of Apollo, its lines are so elegant and beautiful that I was also fascinated when I saw it, I really like this frame from a higher point with that rock on the right and the many cypresses in the background.
Good management of lighting and sharpness.

They have done well to restore this...but it also makes me wonder how it looks before the restoration. its amazing ANY of it is still standing, after all these years. I like how its placed in the frame composition wise. cheers
