Days Golden Hour, a photo from Messinia, Peloponnesus

Photographer's Note

Marina harbor, the extension of a new well developed part of Kalamata located at the south west side of the city near by the main harbor, not more than 5 min driving from the center of the city.

You will find cafes, Greek traditional restaurants, Italian food, near by the harbor and in the area.
Marina is a small paradise in the city.

You may find me there, as I frequently visit the place, after work, for relaxation or weekends, this picture is describing why.

A few notes for the shot:

Beside the EXIF information which doesn't say much, I have to thank the lord for such a day
The moment was there, I was in the way...
End of story.

But I didn't stand there, I wanted to dress the whole scene as it deserves it, like my golden feelings I had when I was taking the shot.

Post Processing Info:
---------------------
- White balance shifting to become a warmer scene
- Some exposure levels adjusted in order to tone my black areas.
- A clarification effect to make my picture look more dramatic was also used.
- A slightly noise say about 3% was also added in order to make my picture look sharper

I didn't want to use the unsharp mask, because of the strong white artifacts which creates around the sharpen silhouettes, the settings didn't help much to avoid those (perhaps my picture was sharp enough) and besides I don't like extremely sharp pictures unless there is a reason for (check here) :)

Lovely shot! Absolutely fine colours and a very pleasant and calm total to watch, the golden tones, mixed with a touch of blue and all nicely reflected on the calm water. It creates a super mood. Readdy for the autumn to come?! It seems to suggest so!
I think your PP is on a very good level, the contrast is fine fine fine, colours 'n saturation lovely and the sharpness is indeed okay. On the masts of the boats I feel a bit more sharpness could be welcomed, but it still is on a good level, and you have explained well why.
A fine pattern is created by the masts of the boats, interrupting the sky, but maintaining a high degree of calmness (is that the word, I hope so..)
A good position of the horizon, fine crop/framing and a nice border make up for the finishing touch. A very well presented photo!

a beautiful photo of a marvellous moment captured...it has the word 'harmony' written all over it. I just love the colours, this is a true light painting of one of my favourite subjects - ports&boats. I had a chance to visit your town, it's truly lovely.
I also agree with what you said in your intro - post processing is an important part of creating a photo and the strict policy of TE regarding this has been preventing me from being active here more often, unfortunately. I really love your work, keep it up!

Λεπτομέρεια που με ενοχλεί στην κατά τα άλλα εξαιρετική φωτογραφία: δεξί 1/20 κομμάτι από επάνω μέχρι κάτω κάνει λίγο ασύμετρη την απόλυτα συμμετρική εικόνα με τα κατάρτια να δείχνουν σα να στηρίζουν τα σύννεφα από πάνω.

this is absolutely stunning shot, Stelios, I cannot believe I missed it when you posted it! but better late thn never, here are my 2 points/cents for this beauty. magic light and colour, liquid amber mixed with honey and topped with some melted gold, I cannot find words good enought to decribe what I see. I like a lot how the colours gradually darken towards the edges, it's a great way to frame the boats.
