Photographer's Note

"According to myth, the cult of Athena Lindia was pre-Hellenic, although this is not borne out by the sporadic excavation finds. The history of the sanctuary begins in the Geometric period (9th c. BC). In the Archaoc period the tyrant of Lindos, Kleoboulos, revived the cult and built a temple, probably on the site of an earlier one. The Archaic temple had the same Doric tetrastyle amphiprostyle plan as the subsequent one. The sanctuary was approached by a rough flight of steps. After it was burnt down in 342 BC, the present temple was built with the propylaea and the monumental staircase. The Hellenistic stoa is later. In the 3rd c. BC the cult of Zeus Polieus was introduced, although Athena remained the principal deity of the sanctuary. In the Roman period the priest Aglochartos planted olive trees on the spot, and according to an inscription the Sanctuary of Psithyros was built close to the Temple of Athena (2nd c. AD)..."

Athena was the Goddess of Lindos... but this was waaay before...

Hi Korkut,
I like this picture, it's a picture whitin a picture. They are not even aware of your presence and how you saw this scene.
Your framing and composition is well choosen. Also the red, blue and yellow work perfecly together with as only bright colour the white from the woman her dress, very nice.
Only thing is that i would like to see some camera and lens details, gives me more insight information about the technical side...

A rather minimalist shot that packs a heavy punch. Your category choices sum up the shot - the modern, would-be goddess, the fine ruins and architectural display, and definitely the decisive moment. I like the low angle POV here and clarity of detail. Well conceived and executed. Cheers.

Hi Korkut!
But Athena used to wear a helmet and was one of the very few � if not the only � virgin Greek goddesses. I think that this girl posing on the wall has none of these attributes and so the analogy is rather small. :-) Whatever: I like your Heracles-capturing-Athena-before-going-to-bed-with-each-other compo.

A gorgeous view in every senses... ;-) Maybe a close-up of the goddess wouldn't be a bad idea either. :D
Seriously, besides the obvious erotic touch of the attractive model, there is so much to seee... The architecture, the clear blue sky, the vibrant colours, the amazing clarity, we dreaming about the photo that the Hercules is shooting...

Did you know that "lindo" (female=linda [almost every adjective in Portuguese has genre]) is a Portuguese synonym for beautiful or gorgeous? So a good Portuguese title for this photo is "Linda em(in) Lindos" or "Lindos ou(or) Linda?"
