Blue hour with Evanrizo, a photo from Kastoria, Macedonia

Photographer's Note

When I started driving to reach Kastoria, I had a good feeling about this trip. I had counted my time in order to reach the town around the blue hour. While I was aproaching the town, I parked my car on the right (before I even went to my hotel to unpack), close to its south entrance, and while I was taking out of my car, my camera and my tripod, I noticed a person doing almost the same thing. He looked familiar! "Are you Vangelis?" I asked him, "Are you Hercules?" he asked me! What a surprising and absolutely pleasant coincidence! He was TE member Evanrizo! After that, I was sure that this would be a great trip, and indeed it was!

Hello Hercules! Beautiful flow of lights in the water and what a great story behind it. I really wonder sometimes, when I see others taking photos, if we have "met" before. But as Henryk has no luck in his dunes I had none on my mountain - so far :) Nice the snow-covered mountain with just some lights clicked on. I love your blues, all so nice. Barbara.

Σίγουρα τέτοιες συμπτώσεις συμβαίνουν πολύ σπάνια.

Hi Hercules,
Stunning picture with wonderful contrast between the blue hour tones and the warm colours of the lights and reflections. I particularly like the distant snow-covered mountain which creates a strong feeling of space, allowing the eye to roam through the whole picture.
Good use of panoramic format and great detail in the large version.

What an amazing "blue hour" photo with the multitude of urban lights creating a khaliedascope effect on the water. Absolutely fantastic colours and composition, with the distant mountains providing some balance to the array of colours in the foreground. Very well done.

a great view ! The reflections going down deeper as the real lights would let me suppose, makes it very airy and light. The town seems to be levitated above the water.

This is an excellent large post of a blue hour photo. The sharpness and DOF is very good here even in the large version. The blending of natural and artificial lighting is great. The reflection adds nice balance and depth to the shot.

Definitivamente tus fotos nocturnas encierran un gran encanto, siempre da una alegri y satisfacci observar tomas como esta, donde a pesar de la escasa luz, lograr captar los elementos mas esenciales, con nitidez y definici.

Ese azul intenso, distribuido por toda la escena es fantastico, los reflejos en el agua excelentes y las luces artificiales, determinan con fuerza toda la composici.

The photo of Evanrizo (that I did not know) is beautiful also.
It is not the first time which you dazzle us with Kastoria and its reflections in the lake. Here still it is very well done (the large version particularly). I also like very much the mountain with the snow.

Linda coincidencia de juntarse los dos en el mismo sitio y tomar la misma foto de tan bello lugar, interesante para mi es que Evanrizo uso una exposicion con f/13.0, 30 seconds y tu un f/8 obteniendo casi los mismos resultados con las luces y sus reflejos. Tu large version nos muestras grandes detalles de la ciudad y sus preciosas edificaciones. La verdad que la tuya es una excelente foto.
