Photographer's Note

Thingvellir (which means "Parliament Fields") is a nature reserve and plays a significant role in the lives of Icelanders. Iceland痴 parliament was founded here around 930 and assembled in the fields until 1798. All of nation痴 most significant events have taken place in Thingvellir, such as the adoption of Christianity in the year 1000 and the foundation of the Republic of Iceland in 1944. But most of all, Thingvellir is a beautiful national park, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, sitting right on the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge between the North American and Eurasian plates. It's a magical and spectacular place for those who love nature and the outdoors, and we found it so soft and splendid during winter. This destination is one of the most visited tourist sites of the country.
By the way, did you notice the fox's head on the foreground strip of land ?
