Photographer's Note

Just south of Dublin, and the small hamlet of Sandycove, lies this excellent Martello Tower. It is a tower full of history. Martello towers of varying forms were built to defend areas were a hostile force may land. Many have been adapted over the years for many things. Even into small dwelling places.
This one house the James Joyce museum, perhaps one of the greatest Irish writers.
Sir Roger Casement, who attempted to organize a German backed Irish freedom force during WWI, was born here in 1864. He was captured after being landed in County Kerry from a German U-boat and executed as a British traitor in 1916.
