Photographer's Note
To have a chance for taking a good picture you have to be in the right place at the right time. So what are the odds for that when you are in travel? The possibility for such coincidence increases very much when you can visit a place many times. Yesterday together with darek1978 we went to Wicklow Mountains south of Dublin for a "TE meeting". Our first stop was the viewpoint to the Lough Tay. For a very short moment we had perfect weather conditions: no wind to disturb the surface of the lake and thus a perfect reflection, amazing clouds in a fantastic sunlight were an extra bonus. The weather changed every couple of minutes so in every shot we caught different clouds, different color of the sky. Both me and darek1978 we have already uploaded a view of this "Guinness lake" but I believe we both will show it again...
Ireland is a very windy country so water reflections are rather rare here. Now in the recession time the country certainly needs a reflection more than before.
My salary was cut this year 7.5% and is scheduled for 7.5% more cut coming year. Additionally we will be forced for 2 weeks unpaid leave. All public sector workers, we need to gather certain amount of money to pay the debts caused by some bank managers, who still get great Christmas bonuses. Government decided to cut the child benefits and decrease the prices of alcohol... Still it is not cool in Ireland to show that you are unsatisfied. Certain group of people very skillfully managed to create a tension between public and private sector workers, and the argues happen now along this artifical line. In the meantime people who are responsible for the situation are untouched and probably focused on Christmas already. I wish they have Ebenezer Scrooge's dreams.

Widze ze w Wicklow Mountains dziala prezna komorka TE;-)
Piekne krajobrazy macie tam do fotografowania i musze przyznac ze takie prace robia na duze mnie wrazenie. Bardzo interesujacy, dobrze wybrany kadr i doskonale swiatlo. Niepowtarzalne kolory i refleksy w jeziorze. Nie uwazam Cie za "pocztowkowca" raczej za goscia ktory wie o co chodzi w fotografi.
Dzieki za ta prace,

Hi Mariusz
This one of the best I have seen from you and it is going to my favourites. I like the play of light and the incredible tones, colours and textures at work here. Well done.
ps I agree whole heartedly that this whole crisis has been caused by the total relaxing of regulations that started back in the Reagan era of the early eighties.

Hi Mariusz
Looks like you have put some HDR wizardry into this shot, good is that you have not overdone it but pushed the levels just enough to give that extra spectacular touch

Hi Mariusz,
While the light is very low and cloudy, you managed very well here. The colors are subdue but really rich in tone and such a variety in of colors collected here. Beautiful composition, the Reflection is clear and smooth like a mirror on the ground. It is amazing to see the slight difference in perspective of the reflected landscape.

Witaj,
Wykorzystałes sprzyjające warunki pogodowe znakomicie. Wspaniałe odbicie gry w jeziorze, śliczne kolory traw i czegoś czerwonawego, piekny krajobraz (podobny do bieszczadzkiego).
Pozdrawiam

Hello Mariusz
First of all, sorry to hear about the salary wageback, that must hurt - especially when like you say, others are getting bonuses still!
You have captured an astounding photo here, with great DOF, and beautiful water reflections.
I particularily like the sunlight shining on certain select rolling hills.
Beautiful

Bonjour Mariusz,
Bonne soir馥 !

Czesc Mariusz,
Gratuluje- mistrzowska robota!
Pozdrawiam,

The title is very fit! (in both senses)
And so you had a meeting with Darek eh? Naturally!
Say hello to him from me next time you see him!
Wonderful is the word that comes to my mind. Wonderful photo of a wonderful place. You are right: to be in the right place at the right time... our island too is very windy and so it's hard to find a decent reflection! (:-)
The effect here is very peculiar, it looks like a world seen in a chrystal sphere, the sphere of a magician. And it needs a real magician to create such a dreamlike photo!
Well done my friend!

I've travelled here but it was 1987!
If I'm not wrong there was a place called Sally's Gap or something like that, I remember it was in the Wicklow mountains, maybe not far from this place...
This image is really fantastic! Great!

Hi Mariusz
This really is a jewel in your fantastic galley. I have never seen such clarity in a reflection in an Irish lake, and the sky both in the reflection and in the sky have a life and power of their own, and appear to move inside the image. The lighting, speckled across the landscape as it is is wonderful, and all of the rich intense colours of the land. Fantastic shot.
Thanks also for your interesting note. As I sit here almost three years after you submitted this shot, nothing has changed in Ireland. New government, but no matter, still corrupt to the core and taking everything from the people to line their own pockets and to make the rich richer. I seen on the news lately of a Soup Kitchen opening in Athlone. It sometimes feels Ireland may never have a responsible government again.
All the best

Hello Mariusz,
Today this older picture of yours is a 'Featured Photo' on the homepage of TE.
Looking at the thumbnail I wasn't sure if it was a low hanging cloud I saw or something else. So it turns out to be the reflection of the sky in a lake. Also a part of the mountain slope is reflected.
We see a grandiose deserted and wild landscape.
Not immediately as I imagine Ireland. But this is also part of the country.
The note was written nine years ago, also in dark times.
Best regards, Paul
