ABANDONED.
My number one passion for photographic subjects are these abandoned buildings. I know they may not be everyone's cup of tea, but they offer so much interest, mystery, history, untold stories, and even danger sometimes.
As you can see, this old Castle or Tower home, is now placed at the roadside. Obviously when it was built many years ago it was just on the hillside among a large plot of land. Funny how they have paved a road around it, and I think thats adds to the overall appeal.
I didn't have to wait long for some bikers to come riding down the roads, so I thought I'd use this one as the main post. This was captured along the Ring of Dingle, but honestly, its too hard to find on the TE, its basically in the middle of nowhere, and I couldn't find any name on the property.
I'll add a couple of WS photos, one good shot, and one of bad quality, but it'll show the condition of this old building.
thanks for looking

Hello Craig, Nice all three pictures. Funny that you wanted to go inside, But they were clever enough to put the fence :). Interesting building as the tiny castle with the tower. Nice composition with the curve of the road and the bikers.

Hello Craig ,
the main post is interesting , because well composed , and contrasted -the old ruins , and the modern road- , but the WS in the vertical format is excellent , too .
It is curious , but the tower looks like a concret building ...

Hello Craig,
The image is well composed creating an interesting juxtaposition between the old abandoned castle and the modern world inhabited by cyclists and the motor vehicles. Did you come across it by chance or were you already forewarned?

Hello Craig,
It's a relief to see that sometimes even you take a photo of a not so perfect quality ;-).
This main post on the other side is good, because it puts the ruin in its modern context, the bikers add life and the road makes a couple of gentle curves. It's a bit difficult to imagine what living in a small "castle" like this was like a few hundred years ago. Maybe the lady of the castle used the platform at the top of the tower for drying laundry?
Best wishes,
Gert

Hello Craig,
I don't think there are many people who are completely insensitive to such iconic buildings! They do grab us and talk of history and heritage!
I like your composition very much.
The castle is well positioned whilst the road leads into the scene and to modernity.
It symbolically talks about modern life whizzing past, whilst the old stand and watch and grow beards ... well cobwebs!
Have a great day,
Bev :-)

Hello Craig,
Your additional pictures showing the bad condition of the building and tower.
Your main picture with the cyclist and the curve of the road makes everything very pleasant .
Sharpness and clarity are very well done.
As always, the composition is impeccable, strong guidelines and a wonderful sense of perspective.
Very well done, TFS.
Kindest regards,
John.

Hello Craig,
Sure its grandeur days were over, but conveys lot's of ancient ambiance. Well chosen the POV with teh curve of the road, at the time two cyclists and a car came around.
Indeed, those old remains are an intriguing subjects.
My best regards,
Ike

Bonour Craig,
Amicalement

Hello Craig,
Great photo of the ruins of this old, abandoned and dilapidated castle. Funny when you think that this castle once knew much better times, would anyone back then have thought that the no doubt then grand castle would once be reduced to just some ruins with a road running quite closely to it? Excellent composition too, the car and cyclists are well included.

Hi, Craig.
A very picturesque composition of the ruins of this castle, the abundant vegetation seems to devour it, the road built so close to it, remove the touch of charm and mystery, for a past in which surely have a lot of relevance; cyclists put the vital touch to the image.
Sharpness, lighting, color and beautiful composition; All factors are perfectly made, in this beautiful image.
Well done. I like very much.
Have a nice day.
My best wishes.
Luis.

Hi Craig
That's such an amazing Irish scene and a fascinating castle. It looks like either a large house that got notions and built the Grand Tower, or the tower of an older castle with this built on. Whatever it is, it's beautiful. Shame it was off limits but so many are. I've been in some that aren't and you would like a hard hat!
I do like the energy brought by the people and car, it makes the scene very different. Without them the photo would feel quite lonely, but here it's quite beautiful and almost cheery. Cool shot
Cheers

Hi Craig
A pleasantly exposed street shot portraying the old castle and well set off to the surroundings. It's totally a well defined shot with good human presence. Great work with the usual informative write up, Congrats.

Hello Craig
Well, who else manage to find an abandoned castle but you! A fine and well composed picture. Perfect inclusion of the bikers which adds life and colour contrast. I like a lot the close-up of the tower shown in you WS. Imagine all the history and the lives that have been lived within these walls. Lovely shot! TFS.

Hallo Craig
I like the contrast you found in this scene with the two cyclist and the car. They are not aware that they will pass this abandoned place with its unknown history.
It is fascinating that these places are just left and became forgotten ruins.
Excellent presentation
Have a nice week

Hi Craig,
Surprising view to see a single tower standing in a corner of ruins in the middle of nowhere. I wonder if those ever had defensive meaning, or were they a means to show off economic wealth or something?
Cyclists are of course well placed and add another aspect of surprise.

Hi Craig,
The length of the road is giving depth to the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the ruins of the castle. The good luminosity is bringing out the beauty of the colours. Have a nice day.

Hello Craig,
I also like your altered image #1 in its vertical format and with the big rock in front of the ruined castle.
But also your main picture is very beautiful and shows the ruins better in their current context in the Irish countryside. The composition is very attractive with the curving road and with the presence of the cyclists.
Best regards, Paul
