Photographer's Note

I really like Irish pub and shop fronts. Always well detailed, colourful and respecting traditions. Another thing that caught my attention on this one is how the Irish don't seem to know the concept of dressing for the weather. Seeing winter coats and tee shirts at the same time is not rare.

Hi Kari,I also go crazy seeing the facades of British pubs, I would have liked to do something similar but when I refurbished my bar, I had to keep the old style being in an area protected by absurd urban conservation laws. Beautiful photo, the girls are cold while the man may have already had a few beers and felt the cold less .. haha ..Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Kari,
My experience of Irish pubs in the 60's was that they looked very plain, compared to British ones, but usually had a great atmosphere as the evening got later. But that was before Irish pubs became an international trade mark. This one looks nice already from the street, but for the photo it's really the persons walking by that create the atmosphere.

Hello Kari,
A very nice capture of the fa軋de of the pub with its blue paintwork and the signs and letters over the large windows. The group of people was well included, too.

Ha ha if you like Irish pub fronts then certainly you will find a lot of subject for photography in Ireland.
Sometimes I wondered why for example Dublin is a popular tourist destination. My mistake was that I don't drink beer so pubs are quite boring to me so basically not much was left for me there to do. Nice capture at a true Irish weather as well. Yes people in Ireland dress like in England as well: if the winter formally finishes they wear summer clothes, the temperature has no effect on what they wear.
So the girls in the jackets were probably foreigners ha ha

Hello Kari,
The man in the photo reminds me of my first night in Ireland. It was a chilly June day and the temperature difference between Belgium and Ireland was bigger than I expected.
But I saw all the young Irish on the streets of Dublin dressed as if there was a heat wave.
You can recognize Irish pubs from the outside and not just by the name. Inside ideal places to socialize.
